Ask a Fellow Internet Traveller Anything

I've been here on the forums for a bit now so it's probably about time I made one of these. Just no super personal questions and if I’m uncomfortable with a question I’ll let you know. Now ask away!

I'm surprised to hear that you have issues communicating... you seem very good at getting your points across and ideas out, pretty effectively IMHO. 🤔 ☕

Anyhow, my question is... if there were three final, substantial updates to Terraria you'd make, the real final, FINAL update, what would you add, change or modify, etc.

Yeah, I'm fairly good at explaining my thoughts and structuring my writing. The main thing my communication disorder affects is how quickly I can communicate my thoughts both verbally and in writing. Basically, my brain has a hard time regulating how quickly I share my thoughts which causes me to either talk too fast and end up stumbling over my words or have a really hard time verbalizing my thoughts. With either outcome I have to take extra time to make sure my thoughts come out coherently. I arrive at the same result as most people in the end, it just takes a little longer for me to get there.:dryadhappy:

  1. A complete overhaul of food. This would include adding growable crops (corn, potatoes, wheat, tomatoes, etc.) used to craft a bunch of new foods. These new foods (along with the food currently in the game) would give improvements to specific classes or for certain tasks (mining, fishing, building, etc.) instead of improving the stats for all classes. This would add more nuance to food instead of how things are now where you just buy a bunch of pigronatas for bacon or grow pumpkins for pumpkin pie.
  2. A BUNCH of new whips. The fact there are only 9 is an absolute crime and there definitely needs to be more in progression (especially in pre-hardmode). Some ideas I've had for new whips include a starter whip crafted from a rope, a whip crafted from Meteorite, a shadow flame whip obtained from shadow chests, a whip crafted from forbidden fragments, and any of the whips from Dead Cells for the crossover.
  3. Some sort of boss for the desert. It is the only major biome without a boss and it definitely deserves to have one. If it were up to me I would turn the pyramid into a proper dungeon and add a Pharoh boss but I bet whatever re-logic would come up with would be amazing.

Is there a specific reason why you always use the dryad emotes, just out of curiosity? Or maybe it’s like me and the merchant emotes (I just like the merchant and I feel like it)
Yeah, same reason as you. I just like the Dryad, she's one of my favorite NPCs. I guess I also want to be different and not use the basic Guide emotes. (Also, thank you for reviving my AMA)

How did you discover Terraria?
Through Stampylonghead! I was a huge fan of him growing up and I watched almost all of his series including his Terraria Let's Play. For a while I only experienced the game through his videos, but eventually I started playing on mobile. The mobile version didn't have any 1.3 content, but I still loved the game and haven't stopped playing since.

Asking about the three sides of the war you've been on.

What's your favorite Axe in Terraria?
Do you have a favorite Rock IRL?
What's your favorite kind of Tree in Terraria and IRL?

I was also a huge fan of Stampylonghead too and you mentioning him triggered my nostalgia. Great to see another person who admittedly liked him here.

Anyways, favorite terraria biome and why?

Based on appearance, the Nebula Hamaxe with its sick purple flame look. However, the axe I use the most is the Axe of Regrowth (mainly for getting the perfect trees in my builds).

I don't really have a specific favorite but I've always liked metamorphic rocks with their swirling patterns and layers. If we include gemstones my favorite would be Amethyst.

I LOVE trees but my favorite would be Willow Trees. I love their huge rounded shape, their hanging leaves that sway in the wind, how they like to grow next to bodies of water, and I love painting them. I honestly would have stayed on Team Tree because of how much I love them but Red committing "Treeson" and Cenx sharing the Mushroom summon (two things I also love) swayed me to the other side.

Answering your question triggered a lot of Nostalgia for me as well. My childhood wouldn't have been the same without him and it's also cool for me to find another fan.

For a while it was the Jungle but now it's 100% the Hallow. I love the vibrant pastel colors, the magical fantasy theme, how it freshens things up in Hardmode, the rainbows (partially because gay), Queen Slime because of the Blade Staff, and Empress of Light is my favorite boss.

Calling rainbows gay and mentioning the Empress of Light made me think of an idiot complaining about her.

"Ugh, stop being so gay, lady."

"I'm sorry! It's Okay to be Gay!! IT'S OKAY TO BE GAH!!!"

For the sake of not just posting a joke, what's your favorite color? (Answers along the lines of all, yes, or rainbow don't count. :p)

I’ve seen enough stampy to remember thinking it was funny that he used red ice in a build because I knew where that would go in hardmode
There were a lot of funny "noob" moments in his series. I remember when he finally started experiencing 1.3 and he accidentally started Martian Madness for the first time. He was so confused and kept on dying to the Saucer's death ray, it was hilarious.

Also what’s your favorite book/movie genre?
I'm not really particular when comes it to genre, I like experiencing a little bit of everything, but I've pretty consistently enjoyed fantasy stories. I like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, Stardust, Coraline, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Classic Fairytales, Disney Movies, Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, Mary and the Witches Flower, The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea, the Owl House and a lot more.

Lol, that's hilarious. People that think something is gay just because it has rainbows are so stupid.

Yes, I honestly love all colors. For a long time it was green, but now it's yellow. And I'm not talking mustard, neon, or any other gross or obnoxious yellow. I'm talking sunny, warm, sunflower, lemon yellows. They give me the happy warm feelings.

What’s your favorite song in terraria, and what terraria song, if any, do you think is the most underrated?
I might change my mind later but I'm going to say Rain. I love its slowed-down vibe and all the little percussion sound effects that sound like droplets of water. I also love rain IRL which adds to my bias.

Underground Desert for most underrated. The song absolutely slaps and really fits the ancient, harsh feeling of the Underground Desert. I feel like most players disregard or dislike it because they associate it with the Underground Desert's difficulty.
