Biomes & Nature Add ocean biome chest and new mini structure (concept art)

In the 1.4 update the desert biome chest was introduced into the game, 1.4.5 is on the way, and I think it would be a good time to add a new biome chest.

I will try to describe all the concept art I came up with.

The ocean caves already in game aren’t very interesting and tbh only make the terraria’s ocean look phallic and weird so I came up with a new mini structure called the “flooded ruins” that generate deep within the ocean cave that consists of dungeon bricks, a water candle on top of a platform, ruined pillars, a few aquatic variants of the dungeon biome enemies and the ocean biome chest.

When you are around this structure before unlocking the ocean chest (which you can only do if you fought plantera and got the ocean key which has a 1/2500 chance from dropping from ocean mobs) you will not be able to destroy any of the blocks around it meaning that it would be impossible to drain the water there (even with dry bombs/rockets). A few variants of the angry bones can be found hanging around the flooded ruins called “flippered angry bones” which have the same stats and drop the same loot as normal angry bones but would pose a challenge as they would be able to quickly swim after their target so caution is advised for new players.

Once plantera is killed and the spirits are released two new mobs will start spawning around the flooded ruins. The first one is a completely unique mob called the “aqualung skelly” which which has two times more health than a blue armored bones but hitting the aqualung attached to it’s back will let you deal two times more damaged to it. It will swim towards the player and start quickly stabbing them with a scuba knife but would drop the same loot as an ordinary blue armored bones. The second mob is a variant of the giant cursed skull called the “giant cursed helmet” and has the same drops and stats.

Once you have acquired the ocean key and opened the ocean chest the loot within it consists of: the “bloop foghorn” and miscellaneous items such as pearls and ocean themed potions. The bloop foghorn looks like the fish thing in the previous images and spawns a special mount called the “kelpasus” (portmanteau of kelpie and Pegasus) and it’s tooltip says “fluttery and dead”.

The kelpasus has the abilities of the winged slime mount and unicorn mount combined into one and is essentially an upgrade of them. It can run at 72 mph and when it surpasses 50mph it can deal 70 base summon damage and 10 knockback and make you briefly invulnerable. It is capable of double jumping like the unicorn. It can fly 80 tiles upwards, hover, negates fall damage, work with other mobility accessories, and can autojump on enemies dealing 70 summon damage similar to the winged slime.

Some of the unique abilities this mount has is increasing the players luck by 0.2 while they are riding it and increases their overall damage by 8% but not the mounts overall damage. Be warned though, even though it increases your damage, it also increases your hitbox size making you more prone. If the kelpasus gets hit by an attack you will also take that damage. This mount is useful if you just want to go berserk. It is slightly larger than the unicorn as well.

It think the lore behind how the dungeon enemies managed to shack up underneath the ocean could be long ago in terraria history after Cthulhu’s presence made the ocean devoid of life, an new naval regiment of the dungeon made up of remand prisoners who were residents of the ocean that still had their trials adjourned were sent out to do a check in on the ocean but because the pressure under the ocean they got trapped and were not heard of again. Now at this present time they have become deteriorated and rankle around at where they perished.

Kelpasus should also be able to move in liquids.
