Items Expanding on mobile light sources

Corenality

Terrarian
Wouldn't it be nice if the bell had more uses in crafting instead of just for the Fairy Bell? Why not use it as a base for crafting several different mobile light sources? Of course rather than having them be reskins of the Fairy or the Wisp, they should be a tad more functional without being game-breaking or pseudo-summons. For example:

Crystal Bell
Summons a Crystal Beetle that provides light
Recipe
1 Bell
40 Crystal Shards
20 Souls of Sight
12 Souls of Light

Description
The beetle gives off light that pulses slowly between pink, purple, and blue. It behaves similarly to a pet, and teleports to the player like a Chaos Elemental when the player gets too far. When the crystal beetle buff is active, all light sources in the area become slightly brighter.

Rotten Bell
Summons a Watcher that provides light
Recipe
1 Bell
40 Cursed Flames
20 Souls of Sight
12 Souls of Night

Watcher

Description
The Watcher emanates a green light similar to cursed torches. It behaves like a fairy and follows closely behind the player. If the Rotten Bell is used again while the Watcher buff is active, the Watcher will drop green flames under it's lantern that act like glowsticks. This function has a 5 second internal cooldown, and the flames will disappear after a certain amount of time has passed.

Crimson Bell
Summons an Ichor Bulb that provides light
Recipe
1 Bell
40 Ichor
20 Souls of Sight
12 Souls of Night

Description
The Bulb emanates a yellowish light similar to Ichor torches. It behaves like a fairy and follows closely behind the player. Like the Watcher, If the Crimson Bell is used again while the Ichor Bulb buff is active, the Bulb will drop yellow flames under it that act like glowsticks. Flames have a 5 second internal cooldown and will disappear after a certain amount of time has passed.

Frozen Bell
Summons an Ice Spirit that provides light
Recipe
1 Bell
80 Ice Blocks
20 Souls of Sight
1 Frost Staff

Ice Spirit

35d12f7.png

Description
The Spirit gives off a light blue aura similar to ice torches. It behaves like a fairy and follows closely behind the player. When an enemy gets within a certain range of the player (around the size of the Chlorophyte's Crystal aggro range), The Spirit will cast the Shine buff onto the enemy. This buff will remain on the enemy until it dies or despawns, and then the Spirit can cast again.

Mossy Bell
Summons an Luminous Bulb that provides light
Recipe
1 Bell
20 Vines
10 Stingers
20 Souls of Sight
1 Life Fruit

Luminous Bulb

Description
When idle (Left Sprite), The Bulb gives off a faint green light similar to a jungle spore. It behaves like a pet and will propel itself towards the player with a vine if the player gets too far. When the Mossy Bell is equipped while the Luminous Bulb buff is active, the Bulb will extend it's head (Right Sprite) and cast a cone of light that points towards the direction of the players cursor. The cone covers about 75 degrees and can be pointed in any direction.

Spectral Bell
Summons a Skull Lantern that provides light
Recipe
1 Bell
20 Ectoplasm
20 Souls of Sight

Skull Lantern

Description
When idle, the Lantern will give off a greenish-blue light similar to a Wisp. It follows the player like a Fairy and will phase in near the player if the player gets too far. When the Spectral Bell is equipped while the Skull Lantern Buff is active, the player can move the Lantern around with the cursor within a certain radius of the player. The Lantern ignores walls and sways in the opposite direction that the cursor is moving. If the Lantern is brought out of a certain radius from the player, it will simply hug the edge of that radius until the cursor is brought back into it.

Coral Bell
Summons an Angler Fishron that provides light
Recipe
1 Bell
20 Souls of Sight
30 Coral
5 Shark Fins

Angler Fishron
2s138xv.png

6risg8.png

Description
The Angler behaves like a fish and will "swim" behind the player. It gives off a faint yellow light outside of water. When the Angler enters a body of water, it's light becomes much brighter, making it useful for exploring underwater caves. It also attracts critters.

Note that only one light buff can be active at a time (Shadow Orb, Fairy, and Wisp fall under this category too) and will not fight for any Pet or Summon slots.
I would of sprited the Bells too, but they're essentially recolors or redesigns of the Fairy Bell.

WHY ARE THEY ALL BELLS :l

Only one of our three summonable light sources comes from a bell.
Mainly because the bell only has one use, and that's to craft the Fairy Bell. So to sort of give the bell more utility, I used the bell as a base for crafting each summoning item.

Though that's not really the aim of this suggestion. It's more of adding more light sources and making them less like holding a second torch. I just thought it'd be nice to kill two birds with one stone.

Really Great! When I first saw this i thought you were gunna make mobile-exclusive light sources. Thank god you didn't :p

Because the ocean could use a little more love.

why do they all have to be light-sources? it's a freakin bell! why not craft something that could be activated by a pressure plate when you enter the house? wouldn't that be a cool little gizmo to have? walk into the house (or even better, the merchant's quarters/store) and there goes the little tinkly bell, just like in a shop, to let everybody know that the door opened.

That would be awesome...

The Crimson only has 1 enemy that drops Ichor and I don't know how you get it all so easily but it took me half an hour to get the ichor for the golden shower.
