Sodapone's Builds

Wall of Flesh
Well, I've made several builds now; I think it's time I make a thread to host these all.

Bases
What, you don't make your main bases artistic? Well, to be fair, neither did I, until 1.2.4 hit. So here's my two most recent bases!

Fun fact: This one's so big that the TCF server refuses to host it, so I have to use imgur. What's not done, you might ask? Well, there's one more room I want to add for symmetry but I don't know what it should be, and the subway system at the bottom isn't done.

I focused less on practicality and more on style, since I knew this build wouldn't be around forever (and indeed it wasn't, the server started a new world a week or two ago.)

Pixel Art
Most of my pixel art builds are basically actual sprites directly translated into blocks in Terraria. If that makes any sense.

it's a beautiful day outside. flowers are blooming, birds are singing...on days like these, terrarians like you...
Should be burning in the Underworld.

Fireblossom Builds
As a Trusted member on Fireblossom I've made a pretty fair amount of builds on the server. Fun fact: All of these builds have been influenced by Vocaloid songs to varying degrees.
Ale's Casino (complete).png

Featured in Creation Compendium #28
The inspiration for this build came from the Vocaloid song Blackjack, sung by Megurine Luka. Said influence is most evident in the fact that "Mou Ikkai" ("one more time") is in the centre of the build, being a line frequently repeated throughout the song. It also influenced things like the predominantly-red background walls. I created a (now-defunct) character to associate with the build named Ale, who is the owner of it.
Matryoshka Edit.png

Featured in Creation Compendium #29
This build isn't just influenced by Matryoshka - it's my visual representation of the song. Nothing makes sense in this build, with it committing repeated sensory abuse and with "5-2-4" all over the place. The negative bone blocks and flesh furniture in particular represent scenes from the Project Mirai PV where you see X-Rays for no apparent reason. So, overall...Freud? Keloid? Play those keys, if you will.
Hello Planet Final.png

Featured in Creation Compendium #30
I worked on this together with fellow Vocaloid fan Baconfry; it's based off the song Hello, Planet. performed by Hatsune Miku. He keeps saying I did most of the work, but while that may be true, any collaborative work deserves credit to me. Anyway, The build is on a floating island because this was done at the point where there was virtually no space left on the ground to build. In the end it worked to our advantage though; it let us put in the moon hot-air balloon that Miku rides at one point of the song. The island is primarily based off the original PV of the song; I won't explain exactly what that means but if you've watched it you'll know (this song tells a whole story, so it's important I leave you spoiler-free). The fake HUD is based off the later retro game-styled PV of the song, which included a health bar, score indicator, and held item indicator; all of which included here. Lastly, the rainbow bricks say "Hello, Planet." in Japanese (ハロー、プラネット。); they're redone in the style of the song's logo. I created a character specially for the build to represent Miku, since her presence is needed to strengthen the effect. Overall, I really loved the end result of this build, and I feel like it really captured the spirit of the song at its saddest point.

Miscellaneous

My entry for the TCF 1 Year Anniversary Contest is based off how I feel whenever I first see a new update. I first see that new version number displayed so prominently, showing the change that has occurred to the game. I represented this by having the build shaped literally shaped like 1.3. I then read the changelog and get a basic feel for what's changed, giving me a look at the big picture. I represented this by the framework blocks that make up the 1.3 as being representative of those major changes. Then, as I play the update, I see all the little things that make it up, and individual items of note. This I represented by everything that's inside the 1.3. Ugh, I wasn't very good at explaining this at all...

Entered for Creation Compendium #33 A collaborative build between Milt69466 and I that gave me a nice little lesson on using multiple wall types and gave me a feel for Milt's "Oriental Steampunk" style. It was fun to build!
bbcode hates me so much right now

Love the subway station in your 1.3 build, Soda. And the animated pixel art is genius.
