Weapons & Equip True Arkhalis [name subject to change]

We all know and love[1] the Arkhalis. That rare blade found in mysterious[2] shrines, the blade with a mundane appearance but very unique function[3].
...

It's darn cool. Unfortunately, its coolness factor doesn't outweigh its stats, and deep down the road it becomes significantly less useful.
What happened when the Night's Edge stopped being useful? It got a true form[4]! Now, I know Arkhalis is new, but hear me out here, if just for the fact that it's a cool sword.

True Arkhalis, eh?

It would function similarly to the Arkhalis[5], with a few significant differences:
1. Wider and farther slash arcs, because having some range is nice.

2. Every few slashes, it shoots out a beam in the shape of the slash arc (similar to other True weapons)
Unlike usual though, the beam would locomote in a similar manner to that of Demon Scythe, where it starts slow and rapidly speeds up.
3. It slashes even faster than the normal Arkhalis. Maybe even to Fetid Baghnakhs levels (not quite that fast, maybe)
4. Size modifiers work, and affect the slash arc size. Assuming this is possible in the game engine, of course.
5. It would be weaker than the other True weapons. Maybe at 60-70 damage per slash. Its speed and directional control are meant to compensate for that.

The original Arkhalis is a very plain looking sword compared to many others, and I wanted its true form to keep that theme going.

Anyhow, suggestions, modifications, criticisms[6], your own versions of the idea, etc. are welcome.
I know it's not the most unique idea, but I think this cool weapon deserves some more love[7]!

[7] - And a higher spawn rate! Who likes it when they find the one shrine in their world only for it to be a fake sword or an Enchanted Blade, which already shows up elsewhere?
 
haha that sword is awesome :D to see a true form of it would be epic.
maybe tone down the dmg a bit less because overall, the DPS would be higher than the other true forms.
 
But you still have to be VERY close to the enemy compared to other hardmode swords.
true but think about how slow most enemies move. you can just ram them constantly + what if u trap enemies in a corner. plus. it is very easy to stay on an enemy. the DPS is just too much i believe. there are too many oppertunites to where you get mass DPS

Opportunities is the key, like the horsemen's blade it is better in certain situations but is overall worse than the other choices.

A way to combat this would be low knockback. That said, yes, the DPS may be a tad high, but this is meant to combat other late hardmode swords.
I intentionally didn't mention a crafting recipie because I'm not fond of the overuse of Broken Hero Swords. I was thinking this could be a step sideways from the Terra Blade or something rather than compare to the other two True weapons. I dunno. This is why I asked for feedback :p Needs to be balanced of course.

i getcha. maybe craft this true wep with a butt ton of crystal shards instead of a broken hero's sword?

Hm... Maybe.
I want it to be later hardmode though, so it isn't instantly overshadowed by the Terra Blade and everything above it within an hour or two though, and Crystal Shards suggest early hardmode. Let's see... what late hardmode materials would make sense...
If it has such a high DPS, maybe it could need materials from a bunch of sources?
-Arkhalis from a shrine (maybe guarantee one per world just to make it fair? Eh, I dunno about that...)
-Crystal Shards
-Unicorn Horns
-Souls of Might, Sight, and Fright
-Maybe Mysterious Weapon Fragments or something from fishing or other sources? After all, where are the other pieces of the Broken Hero Sword? :p
I really have no idea. Hm. Should have given this more thought before posting.

I disagree, not with this suggestion, but with this sentence in particular. I found the arkhalis to be very useful well into hardmode, wrecking the destroyer with it. Never took it off my hotbar until I got a Fetid Baghnakhs.

Fair enough. I was mostly going on what I'd heard from other people.
I've never actually got one on a melee character.
 
I just thought of a recipe! How about the Arkhalis+Fetid baghnakhs + 5 of every boss soul+ death sickle. I think it makes sense.
