What would You add day 1: New Biome

An underground forested biome, where you can get wood at the cavern level and grow trees. Herbs and strange plants would grow there, bosses would spawn... basically an underground alternative to the surface forest, but closer to lava than sun.

Also an alternative to the Hallow, wherein instead of everything being happy and pink rainbows, it's all serious and solemn and reverent. Stone is brown tinged white, and instead of glowing in the dark, enemies are wispy and shed light, making them harder to see. Also instead of crystals you have geodes, that do not glow but sparkle when light is brought close, which is often

Alternative to the Hallow.
Right now its Corruption/Crimson and Hallow. It should be Corruption/Crimson and hallow/???

I like Xakk's idea of a super ordered area. Instead of being fantasy its all austere and stoic. Lawful Neutral as opposed to Lawful Good I suppose, to use DnD terms.

I love the idea of an alternate to the hallow. Maybe something like the "revered" or the "haunted" to define it as more spirit-oriented rather than bright fantasy. Love the idea of being subdued colors and wispy enemies... it would be cool to have a background that looked like it had a low mist along the ground and maybe dappled light in a forest or something. It could even have an Arthurian Avalon vibe.

Might also be cool to have a slightly expanded sky island biome. Nothing major, just stuff like having trees and plants unique to the sky islands, maybe something that looks like scraggly fig trees that grow on Mediterranian cliffs and some kind of weed that only grows there and can be used in potions.

Having sky island specific flora would be interesting.
You know what would be fun? An alien crash site biome. Rare chance of happening after golem, and consists of conduit plating, some martians and several devices that summon the Martian Madness event.

Not necessarily a new biome, but I think it would be neat to have a pre-Hardmode version of the Hallow.

It would function in much the same way as the Corruption/Crimson; being a relatively harder biome, spreading through just grass, have underground tunnel structures, and have special pre-Hardmode enemies and possibly its own boss. Plus, Pearlwood gear would be much less useless (although still not particularly useful, given that you'd probably have better gear than wood by the time you start exploring it).

The fact that you could get Crystal Shards pre-Hardmode isn't really an issue, since with the exception of Crystal Darts and Shifting Pearlsands Dye, nothing can be crafted with them pre-Hardmode (the Phasesaber can be crafted in the console/mobile versions, but in those versions Crystal Shards are dropped by Arch Demons anyway so this wouldn't be a problem).

Actually, the phasesaber would be craftable prehardmode if shards were available.
All it needs is a phaseblade + 50 crystal shards.

In the PC version you need an Orichalcum/Mythril anvil to craft it, and in the mobile/console versions it's not an issue because you can already get crystal shards anyway.

Personally, I'd finish adding content to the Desert (and maybe the Snow biome too) before making a new biome, but if a new biome was to be added...

- Underground Ocean. Underwater areas are underused, and adding some trenches and underwater caves/coral reefs beneath the Oceans would be good to add some more content. Maybe also turn the ocean on the Dungeon side into a Polar Ocean with icebergs and unique fish to catch.

- If a alternate Hallow were to be added, maybe make it a dinosaur-themed biome called the Primeval or something like that. The unicorns would be replaced with velociraptors, and the pixies with pterodactyls.

- A possible idea could be adding time bubbles as new biomes, with a dinosaur-based Past biome and a cybernetic/robotic Future biome.

Coral Biomes, where the water turns into an exotic blue hue of the water and there are stalagmite like structure with corals on

What about a Thick Forest? Like regular forest, but fireflies are all over the place, s soft soothing musical track, and there's a chance in worldgen for a mushroom village to spawn with new Fairy NPCs living there in a Small world. Medium, you get a guaranteed village spawn, and in a large world, 2 or 3 spawn.

An Autumn Forest biome with orange-red trees and leaves drifting through the air. Piles of leaves would generate randomly, and some of them would hop up and attack you with the Slime AI. They would be called 'Am-Bushes' :3

.
That would make since they have summer (forest) winter(ice land) and spring(hallowed?) Also... reminds me of Kirby with what the Am-Bushes do.

A swamp biome. Alligators, muddy water, an abundance of fireflies and other tiny bugs, ogres, cool plants, another nice looking wood type, all that sweet stuff.
