tAPI [WIP][Released] Metroid Mod

Not open for further replies.
As an owner of the original Metroid Prime Trilogy on the Wii, and a Metroid fan in general, I, too, have had an interest in this mod. I even downloaded the source code from the link Joost posted and tried to figure out how to port it into tModLoader, but I didn't get very far (that was a couple of months ago). If there's going to be a serious effort to port this mod to TML, I'd like an invitation, please.

Now, I do have something to contribute to this project: an updated wavebank.

For those unaware, 1.3.4 added three new tracks (Rain SFX, Sandstorm and Old One's Army), which broke wavebanks for previous versions. So I decided to make a new one, adding new tracks (and moving an existing one) to fill the new spaces. For completeness' sake, I've included the entire list below.

I suggest swapping the desert and sandstorm back again. I feel that the depths work better for desert normally, as the regular ruins are more upbeat which works better for the sandstorm.

Alright, if you want to help all the help is welcome i'm currently poking around the code seeing where I can save time and where I have to dedicate some time to. I"m not sure how long this will all really take considering my experience level for programming is minimal at best.

so just out of curiosity, are you people planning on porting this or completely remaking it?
good luck on whichever you're doing, btw.

I don't think I have the skill to remake it, and porting it has been a thing all in its own. So i'm gonna stick with port for now but who knows down the line there might be new stuff.

I'd want to make a Gulliver mod for tModLoader and I'd like to know how did you make the morph ball as it kinda changes players height to two blocks

So, how many people are currently working together on porting the mod? I'd like to help, but i'm not sure if there's anything I could do to help.

A bunch of people said they'd like to help on the previous page, maybe if everyone got a hold of each-other and got a discord channel you could all coordinate efforts.

So, I've been debating with myself a lot recently... and I'm not sure my heart can take it anymore...

For awhile, I wanted nothing more than to move on from this mod. Whenever someone offered to continue development in my stead I would essentially shove all of my resources at them in a way that felt like "yeah, take it from me, I don't want this anymore"--at least from my perspective, anyway. Then as I worked on Game Maker, I wanted to forget this mod... and a part of me just wanted the mod to be forgotten. I was tired, I wanted to move on, but day after day, my past came back to say "hey, I think you dropped this, care to pick it up?"

I was browsing the released mods section on these forums... On the first page, a lot of the mod threads were either labeled "Standalone", "tModloader", or just had no tag... all except for one mod, which still had the "tAPI" tag. It was this mod.

Literal tears came to my eyes. Why couldn't this mod just disappear? Why was it still here? Why couldn't it just be forgotten like the rest of the old tAPI threads?

A sentence I wrote way back on the old forums came to my mind.
"The Metroid mod will not die."
I never realized how true that sentence would turn out. It played over and over again in my head. Then I realized something Nintendo themselves never realized... Metroid fans are hardcore. They're persistent, stubborn, and adamant. So why did I want to just give up? It finally clicked.

When I first started this mod, I had the will as strong as Adamantite Armor, but then I eventually degraded into rusted copper. What happened to me?
And now I feel that I've regained my lost strength. I can't let this mod die, I will not let this mod die. And even if I tried to, it would still be kept alive by you guys.

As a matter of fact, it's all thanks to you guys. If you weren't here, this mod never would've been remade for tAPI. Hell, it probably wouldn't have made it very far in the tConfig version.

"So what does this mean?" you might ask...

As persistent as the iconic species itself, the Metroid Mod is coming back. I will work on it alongside my Game Maker project. If I don't have time for both, I'll make time for both.

TL;DR - The Metroid Mod is coming back. Stay tuned.

WOOHOO! @Terratroid and i just got together to start working on porting it in your stead, and then you show up and say this! Hey, maybe terratroid and I could still help. Terratroid posted a discord link above to collaborate on the mod.

I have been watching this thread quietly, without saying a single word. And now I think it`s time for me to say something. Thank you, Scooterboot9697. Thank you. *Insert M. Bison yes, yes meme here*

Also, will you give the url for a banner, to show support (like the calamity banner below? ~:))

Just copy-paste that into your sig.

On another note, I appear to be unable to edit the first post, strangely enough. I keep getting this error:

Anyone know what's up?
