Console The Best Laid Plans: An Apology, a Promise, and the “Additions” Update

perhaps when 1.3 happens we won't get Cthulu since we have Ocram. Who knows but that's no reason to be mad. you get to have the stuff way before we do and for a smaller price.
I don't know why you would think that as Cthulhu has not been confirmed for any platform.

well I'm just saying and Cthulu seems to be a theme in Terraria..Eye of Cthulu, Brain of Cthulu...one would assume..If I'm wrong then I'm wrong but yeah,

Also quick buffing with the fairy bell makes the fairy buff pop up and count down from 45 but not summon a fairy using the item causes another fairy buff to appear and summon the fairy

Please report this to http://www.505games.com/contact :)

I heard there was an Ocram mask which I am grinding for as we speak. Mr.Rudi there is a crash bug in the PS Vita version which happens in two circumstances as well as the baby skeletron head pet being off center when he spins. The game crashes randomly whilst playing and crashes sometimes when in the character select screen.

Please report this to http://www.505games.com/contact :)

I'm very pleased about this, but I have one issue.

Where's my Stylist?

I've been waiting to change my hair for ages and must've ran through 10+ Spider Nests when I downloaded the update.

Also, as other people have mentioned, all of my saved data disappeared after the update, but after reselecting the storage device on the main menu, it all reappeared.

You know, I just planted about 50 Trees in my Snow Biome to determine which update it was. No Boreal Wood = No 1.2.4.

I also rekilled the 3 Mech Bosses, Plantera and Golem. The Mechs seems a bit tougher (The Twins Cursed Inferno debuff) and the Golem dropped his Mask and a few Beetle Husks.

Overall, good news, but I really wanted my Stylist. :(

So, that is the PC's 1.2.3 "Additions" update. They left out quite a lot from what I'm seeing.. so what do we call this one? 1.2.2.5? Cause it sure isn't 1.2.3.

Please quys try to release stable updates not one year later after they been released on PC. And if you making an update then try to bring ALL the stuff which was added to pc at same update number. Becauee i checked your little update and compared with 1.2.3 on PC and noticed what you missed out some nice items such as shroomite digging claws or heavy workbench (or whatever it's called). But still i really appreciate it because i have been waiting for ANYTHING new to appear at terraria and i think most of other players had as well. So just try to release updates more frequently i guess if you try really hard update in a month or two should be posible to accomplish task. I just love this game and i have spent lots of time on it but after several restarts got bored this update will keep me in game for few days more but i don't think what this is enough compared to 1.2 update taken 2 weeks if gameplay to explore new stuff. With respect, SomeoneSomewhere.
P.S. Thanks again for new update, wish you luck in future.

To all three of you, I know they called it 1.2.3 (maybe that wasn't the best idea, not my call) but they told us earlier several times that they won't be adding everything from the PC updates all at once when updating console, smaller faster updates is their current focus :) Some patience and enjoyment of the new stuff will see you through to getting the things you're currently lacking I'm sure :)

So is frost moon gonna come out for mobile?o_Oo_O
I wanna Know:):):)
Well mobile updates are posted about here: http://forums.terraria.org/index.php?forums/mobile-505-games.86/

does this mean console will be getting duke fishron? man I am sick of pc not getting any permanent exclusive content!

I don't recall Re-Logic ever promising PCs to get exclusives?? But as someone else has already said to you, PC gets the updates much sooner (and usually in better condition :p) than console does.

I'm really happy with the companion app really glad you make it. Also would be great if you make it work. For now it's like, you press "connect to ps4 " and black screen popup then nothing no response... hopefully you'll fix it

The companion app sounds like a game changer. I can't wait! Anything to feed my screen addiction :)

Yeah but it doesn't Work. shame ... is it work for any of you guys?

I applaud any company that's willing to say that made a mistake. That doesn't happen often, and when it does, it's a breath of fresh air.

@505Games I wonder if, given the move towards transparency, you could clarify for Amazon Android users what the delay is in updating that version. Last we heard (as far as I know), the update that added the two other wrench colors and fixed a bunch of bugs was coming to Amazon (thread), but that was at the end of March. Google and iOS got this update a while ago. When/Has that update been submitted to Amazon? Was there something else holding up that platform?

So, I've been busy. I've got all the new Masks except Plantera, Brain of Cthulhu (HM Vertebrae grinding is slow) and Wall of Flesh (HM Voodoo Doll grinding is REALLY slow). Very cool items, and I'm very pleased that it's a Twins Mask and not Retinazer/Spazmatism separate Masks like the Trophies are.

Got 2 parts to the Horned God Vanity Set. The Destroyer was very generous with his Mask, so I only had to kill him twice.

I've built 8 Terrariums and captured one of each animal, putting them in their cages. I've also made a full Beetle Set (both Plate Armour and Shell) and Wings (very cool how the back carapace opens and the Wings animate like a Beetle's) after kicking the Golem in the face a few times.

I've had 2 visits from the Travelling Merchant, bought max Stacks of everything he was selling.

I've also spent several hours trying to record all of the music with Music Boxes, and this has been slightly frustrating. The main ones I haven't recorded yet that I can remember are the new Underground Crimson (due to me having nearly exterminated The Crimson in my world), the Lihzahrd Temple (totally skipped my mind) and the 2 Endgame Events. I waited until nightfall, saved, used Pumpkin Medallion/Naughty Present, equipped a Music Box as an Accessory and fought until Dawn. After a full night of 8 minutes (8 in-game hours) neither of them will record.

So, I have a question. Do I need to reach the later Trophy Waves before it will record, or is it simply glitched/not available on Console yet?

One further point : I repeatedly checked my Bloodroot farms to see if anything changed (not saying that 505 said they'd fixed it, but I thought it prudent to check) and it's still all Blinkroots. I'm thinking of building a third Bloodroot farm just above the Underworld to make sure.

All in all, I'll be doing more grinding tomorrow. Still need to set up my Traps for Frost Moon, bucket some Water out of my Dungeon and switch around the Pressure Plates on my Eastbound Teleporters.

So they going tobamke tiny but fast updates? That is awesome! Sorry i might didn't understand a part where it says about it English is not my first language so i experience some problems with it. But thank you for telling us, i think i won't find out aboit it myself :)

I have Brain, Ocram, and Twins from the new masks and I got a Skeletron Mask from the last update.

What the heck is this?

According to the wiki no such thing has existed since 1.2.3 on console

The update only occurred yesterday, give the Wiki contributors time to update the information.

But yeah, got the full set now. It's ok, but I prefer my Grim Reaper outfit, Titanium Vanity, Space Creature (Xenomorph) and Boss Masks.

Could you upload a screen of it?

Could you upload a screen of it?

Sorry, I wouldn't know how, nor do I possess the tech to do so. I'm posting from my Wii U at the moment. My laptop is pretty awful and I don't have a proper PC.

Ask me in about 2 years, seeing as I have no intention of getting an Xbone or PS4. They'll probably have the Fallout 4 : GOTY Edition out by then. :p

Hello console and mobile Terrarians! We have some exciting news to share with you today. Before we get to that, we would like to share a short story; if you can indulge us for a few minutes. If you really cannot wait to read the news, click HERE to go straight there.

Shakespeare once wrote “the course of true love never did run smooth” and although it’s admittedly a fairly obtuse reference, the same can often be said of videogame development and publishing. Well, maybe less often said, of course, but equally true nonetheless! So where’s all this going, you might ask? In the course of any great work, it’s important to take stock of your journey to this point, your current location, and the paths ahead toward your desired destination. A large part of that self-reflection is taking stock of areas of success – and places where you could stand to perform better. As we enter the next phase of console/mobile developments, today felt like a perfect opportunity to share some of that with you.

505 Games and Re-Logic have been partnering on the expansion of Terraria “beyond PC” for a few years now, and throughout that time we’ve been delighted by the way the fanbase has grown and expanded to take in new platforms, new territories, and -most importantly - excited new fans. From the outset we’ve been driven to expand the reach of the fantastic gaming experience that is Terraria to an ever-wider group of gamers and thereafter delivering as much of the ever-evolving PC content to the console and mobile fanbase as quickly and completely as possible. In addition, we felt it important to embrace the philosophy that Re-Logic follows on the PC side of Terraria – and so we have and will always keep these updates free of charge. This is the fantastic and successful side of our work to-date: expanding the Terraria universe while staying true to the spirit and culture it stands for.

That said, things haven’t always gone according to plan. It’s important for us to recognize that - despite our best intentions - there have been hurdles and pitfalls along the way. We’re not seeking to languish in the past or dredge up old wounds, but we know that there have been issues and instances which have frustrated and upset our fans. Whether it was the state of the initial launch of the 1.2 console update or – more recently – the mobile crash issues, we know that things have not always been as they should for you guys. We also understand that we may not have been as open and communicative in the past as we should be – and that this likely exacerbated any negative feelings or confusion you may have had.

Well, simply put: we are sincerely sorry for where mistakes have been made. That said, we want to do far more than apologize; we want to make amends and improve our performance. Allow us to share some of what that entails.

Terraria has grown from strength to strength since its first PC outing a little over four years ago, and we’re proud to have been part of that expansion. Although with that that growth there have been growing pains, and with those growing pains painful lessons. However as well as accepting our mistakes it’s equally important to note that we’ve learned from those mistakes. Not only are we working more smartly now, but we are also ‘doubling down’ on our investments of time and money in order to underline our commitment to delivering the very best for the franchise and – most importantly – its community of loyal fans.

In terms of specifics, let’s cover a handful of areas where we will be stepping up our game:

Quality Assurance: We’ve completely overhauled the way we QA Terraria.
  • More stable, dedicated testing teams – people that truly know the game vs the “standard” technical-only approach to console testing. Terraria simply isn’t a game that fits the mold – and testing needs to follow suit.
  • More direct engagement/partnering with Re-Logic on prioritization of content, catching bugs/issues earlier, etc.
  • Focusing on smaller and faster updates – this allows for a tighter “window” of content to test (and fix as necessary) vs something as massive as, say, 1.2 was.
  • On Mobile, you will have seen some of the results of this already over the past several weeks. This is an ongoing process, and we have a handful of additional fixes coming – so stay tuned there!
divider.png

Customer Service & Community Engagement
  • We are applying the same approach – leveraging more experienced people that know the game and the community – in how we will be answering customer inquiries/issues and in how we interact with the community across places like TCF and social media.
  • We are also becoming more closely integrated with Re-Logic in order to enhance our understanding of the needs of the community, and to gain better foresight on the PC content coming down the pipeline.
  • Our plan is to be more open with our communication of “coming events” as well.
  • Our hope is that this will result in a more engaging and streamlined experience, and to aid in the quality and efficiency of future development on Console & Mobile.
  • This is still very much in process, so stay tuned and keep providing your invaluable feedback to help guide us here!

So, in short: by more closely partnering with Re-Logic, engaging community and game experts, and listening to you…we will raise our game across the board and deliver the best possible Terraria experience possible on Console & Mobile.
