Haven't got too much time recently to watch the topic... I changed my wiring in a manner that the Dummy goes back to it's former place and it works fine somehow... So i need more time testing it. Not gonna happen in the next week though.

Something that picks up items on the ground and puts them
in a nearby chest?
[DOUBLEPOST=1442062729,1442062274][/DOUBLEPOST]Item pipes? It should be easier to store stuff. The Itempipes would be connected to the chest and if there
is a free spot , the item will go in the chest? for the itempipes id make a new interface (just like for the wires)
[DOUBLEPOST=1442062797][/DOUBLEPOST]I just have too much items #Blame3000+Items
[DOUBLEPOST=1442062999][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh yes, this isn't really the thread for this, but a teacher npc would be cool! (A teacher voodoo doll included plz)

Colored actuators!
My idea how they would work:
green actuators are only activated by green wire, blue ones only
by blue wire and so on. And running other colored wire over them
simply does nothing when powered.

A trap system including

1. A laser trap... inflicts fire damage... crafted using 25 hellstone bars 5 red stained glass

2.upgraders,...makes traps stronger... crafted using 10 gold/platinum bars 15 iron/lead bars 20 diamonds

3.Rainbow wrench... powers higher tier traps and items..... 5 of each gem 25 iron/lead bars

4.charge pad... charges defence robot for 3 in game days and nights... 50 wires 10 gold/platinum 15 cobalt

5.defence bot... atackes other players... you choose crafting.

for some un-known reason, I thought adding something that CAN move blocks, like the pistons in minecraft.
Also at least add a wire gun* or something (just came to mind) since wires can be placed in the ammo spot. *Wire gun; can shoot wire at an enemy, place wire from a far range (also acts as a wire cutter by right clicking it) (spot of cursor), also acts as a temporary lever/switch (special key, letter M) if needed. (can be disabled if wanted)

EDIT: why not try out tricks, like uh, un-openable doors. also, why not allow us to do commands or something? it would help alot when the update comes.

It doesn't only happen on the forum. I have looked everywhere, but I have never seen a way too post a thread.
There is a thing you should know before posting, it is the section of the game it is related to.

I've just seen how amazing the Minecraft's pistons and Starbound's sensors can be.
Terraria can beat them anyway... Right guys? :naughty: Hahaha

My vision of wiring overhaul.

First and foremost, logic gates.
Mostly this: http://www.terrariaonline.com/threa...solution-to-wire-based-logic-circuits.135929/

Core functionality:
- Hub / Crossover bridge - Connects together all colored wires within its block.
- RGB transistor - Toggled by R wire, when ON transmits pulses from G to B, but not the other way around. If R input is not used, acts basically as diode.

For compaction reasons, more one-block gates can be added. Examples:
- AND gate (same for other 2-input functions) - R input pulse toggles 1st input state, G toggles second, output pulse on B is produced whenever function changes.
- Flip-Flop - Is either in R or G state. In R state, G input is ignored, R input pulse passes to B output and switches to G state. Operation in G state is symmetrical.
- Alterator - R input pulses are alternated between G and B outputs.

My extra suggestions:
- Delay line - R input pulses are outputted to B with a short delay. Mostly to avoid indeterminate logic triggering order in circuits with feedback, so the shorter delay is the better (like 1/4 second or less).
- Randomizer - Like a timer, but has a chance to skip pulse. Faster than 1s version might be useful.
- Make pumps and teleporters work through hubs and transistors!

Also, don't forget to prevent shorted NOT gate from crashing game :)

Second, lasers!
Mostly this: http://forums.terraria.org/index.php?threads/sprites-fluorescent-light-beams.10234/

Aand... Wireless transmission!
Add 2 special transparent optic devices: modulator and demodulator. Signal pulses received by modulator are passed to all demodulators down the beam.
Modulator and demodulator should be martian-level tech, probably expensive.
Also, if it will work with teleporters, it will eliminate the need for separate tier of wireless teleporters.

A blockbreaker & placer ! (automatic chlorophyte farms etc)
I like this, for I think this would be an easy way to do cool things. This would need to be kind of like a chest, however, and could be ¨abused.¨ unless you wire a chest to the blocks you want to change back (chlorophyte back to mud?, you would have mud in the chest) and these blocks would have to be different from other blocks, for we have already maxed out 8 layers per block. I was thinking that the player could craft this ¨blockbreaker & placer¨ with whatever block they want to. i.e. go to whatever the crafting table would be, combine the ¨blockbreaker & placer¨ with mud, for example, and you get this item. You would also have to combine at least 5 titanium/adamantite to make sure that the player could mine up chlorophyte, as not to be able to mine it early hard-mode. This would be placed before the chlorophyte grows, and once it grows the player would click the lever? and the chlorophyte would be mined up and a new block would be placed.
Back to the previous topic, piano blocks, I am thinking that the player could make low piano blocks, medium piano blocks, and high piano blocks. Each of these blocks would have 1 different octave than the others. ex: low piano blocks have 13 different keys, and you could hammer the block to get to different keys. I was thinking of a complicated way of using these, for If a song repeats with some variation, the player could hit a pressure plate that actuates the piano blocks, and then teleports back to deactuate them. There should also be a way to change the piano block using a pressure plate, but I am unsure on how that works.

Greetings Terrarians, from the other side of the 1.3 update!

Thanks so much for your enthusiastic response to the update thus far - as well as your assistance and patience in catching and squashing so many nasty bugs. With Mac/Linux launching this week, Mobile/Console update news in the air, and the exciting announcement around the new Nintendo versions, it is safe to say that it is a fantastic time to be a Terrarian!

With all that in mind, the team sat down and started to lay out some ideas around what we may want to explore for future updates. We have a handful of ideas and a general vision for where we would like to take things coming out of that - and that begins today with our announcing that Terraria 1.3.1 will be focused around upgrading the wiring & mechanics systems in Terraria!

Though simple on the surface, the capabilities of Terraria's mechanic system are deceptively complex - as evidenced by many of the amazing creations our fans have developed over time. From the Fountain in the 1.2 Trailer to the more-recent computers (and blackjack machines! ;) ) of 2015, you never cease to amaze us. That got the team thinking - what if we expanded upon that toolbox of capabilities? Even better, what if we asked you guys for your ideas in doing so?

Well, that is exactly what we are going to do in this thread. You get a sense for what we are trying to do with 1.3.1 - now we need your ideas for how wiring and mechanics can be taken to the next level. To submit your idea:
  • Simply post your idea in this thread which as much detail as you can provide.
  • Anything is fair game: new items, new switches, more wire colors, etc.
  • The team will read through all of your ideas along the path to development for 1.3.1, and incorporate any new ideas that seem really cool
  • Of course, we already have our own internal list of "stuff", but we will keep that a secret for now.

Ok, we will let you get right to it - we look forward to hearing all of your amazing ideas.

Thanks!

My ideas are probably gonna be OP but who cares!

Items:
1. Endless Wire Box, crafted using 3998 wire at the Mechanics Station.
'Provides an endless source of red wire'
This item costs, in total around 50 gold to create so only the most keen mechanics should get this item! Its cost, use of only one colour of wire keeps it slightly under what I would think to be OP

2. The Sheep (Worms anyone -_-)
Crafted using 1 dynamite and 1 sheep by hand.
'May leave wool behind'
Reference to worms and destroys the same tiles as dynamite except moves for 10 secs then detonates while going 'baaaa!'

3. The Mechanics Tool
Crafted using 1 Wire cutter and 1 wrench.
'Left CLICK to destroy Wires, and right CLICK to place wires'
Does what it said on the tin, no need for explanations -_-

4. Mechanics Workshop
Bought from the Mechanic in hardmode for 10 gold.
Used to craft:
The Mechanics Tool [↑]
Endless Wire Box [↑]
The Wire Gun [Wrench(1) + Illegal Gun Parts(1)]

Weapons:
The Wire Gun
Crafted using
Wrench(1) + Illegal Gun Parts(1)
'ELECTRINGLY good!' Puns. Hehe
Power: 32
Knockback: 4.5
4% Critical Strike Chance
50% chance to get Wires back.
Shoots Wires, nuff' said

Npc's:

Sheep
Spawns like bunnies
Stats the same as a bunny but sprite of a sheep!
Can be caught with bug net
Used to craft:
The Sheep.

Welp that's mine done

More traps :
- Bird trap : launch an homing bird(who hurt, of course)
- Granade trap
- An enemy spawner (Act like a statue, but any enemy can spawn, from the green slime to the paladin
- A fist trap (act like the golem fist/KO cannon)
- A crystal trap : launch many crystal each time the trap is activated
- The star altar : summon a fallen star, only work a night.
- The meteorite altar : summon a small meteor, only work at day
- The lava shower : generate 1/16 of lava, fall quicker than the classic lava if possible
- The honey shower : same, but with honey
