    I didn't say the shotgun is powerful through whole Hardmode, but at least you'll a better chance to survive through hardmode itself.

    I can beat up the mech bosses with a shotgun though.

    As Yoshi said; the Destroyer, maybe, the others, I'd favor a different weapon. I, personally, have always been partial to the Clockwork Assault Rifle, especially with Cursed Bullets.
