Well that sucks, none of my friends play!

For starters, sorry if I'm in the wrong thread are. My issue is that I have no idea how to play online! When I had terraria on PS3 I was able to go and join random games so long as they where open to the public. Now I can't do that at all? Is that a new thing or am I missing something ??
