The ancient spirits of Light and Dark resided in the Supermax Dungeon, a chamber-filled labyrinth so indestructible that no being except for the three gods could breach it. Once the Lock is breached, the Supermax Dungeon will be destroyed and the Spirits released.
The God of Land, the God of Space and the God of the Void. Land is Cthulhu, and Space (known as Moon Lord to mortals) is Cthulhu's brother. In a battle for control, Moon Lord killed his own brother Cthulhu and made a land in Terraria red with gore, blood and body parts. This was the Crimson. He took Cthulhu's bones and mortalized the Void god, then placing the Void into the bones creating Skeletron. He then was bored, so he decided to make another evil to do battle with the Crimson and wreak havoc on the land.
