The Desert's a fairly dangerous place, what with all the antlions and vultures. However, something that could make it even more treacherous, and require players to keep their eyes extra peeled, would be quicksand.

Quicksand would essentially be a Water tile that used the sprite of a generic Sand block (and would change its sprite to Pearlsand, Ebonsand, or Crimsand based on the biome.) It would also inherit Water's "ripple" effect, meaning that an observant player would easily be able to see that the "sand" isn't quite solid. Upon stepping into it, players would be drastically slowed as if entering Honey. Additionally, the "Breath Meter" would empty slightly faster if the player was touching Quicksand. Quicksand flows slightly slower than Water, but slightly faster than Lava.

Quicksand could be obtained in the following three ways:
-Using an Empty Bucket on Quicksand that naturally generated in place of regular Sand
-Crafting with an Empty Bucket and a Sand block, near a water source
-Crafting with a Bucket of Water and a Sand block, by hand

Upon coming into contact with other liquids, quicksand would react in a variety of ways. Water would cause it to dilute, turning the Quicksand into more Water. Honey would solidify the Quicksand, turning it into Sticky Sand, a block that combines the falling property of Sand with the slowing property of Honey. Lastly, Lava would evaporate the water and leave behind Sandstone/Hardened Sand.

Quicksand would naturally generate in any biome in which Sand is naturally found, with small "veins" of it appearing in Sand veins. However, such pools of Quicksand would only be particularly dangerous in the Desert and Underground Desert; elsewhere, they would merely be somewhat annoying due to their slowness property.

Due to Quicksand's lookalike property with regular Sand, it could be fairly helpful in desert-themed builds if one desired to make an underground base and used Quicksand supported by Bubble Blocks to conceal the enterance. Isolated pits of it could also help defend such a base, as mobs that fall in will often find it difficult to escape.
