Developer Commentary

This hotfix patch was in the works before the release went live, so it will not address every issue raised after release but rest assured all your feedback is being taken into account for future hotfixes and patches!

Here are the improved features and bug fixes included in this patch:

New Features
  • Improved the left stick flight controls, you can now hover only using the left stick and resume flight without tapping on it again!
    • As an example you can now double tap and hold to fly and if you want to temporarily pause, say to dodge a laser, you can just move the left stick towards left/right/down and then just slide upwards again to resume flight
    • It should also be now easier to trigger consistently flight, but more improvements are coming in the future!
    • To see this in action, check out this video: Imgur
  • Modified the tooltip fade time options to allow for instant fading, so you can just tap and hold to see the tooltip
    • To enable this, set your tooltip fade to 0 in the settings menu
    • Note: there’s still a 1 second fading time

Bugs Fixed
  • Improved multiplayer performance in various instances, please keep in mind that different devices might see more or less marked improvements
    • Improved performance when a high amount of projectiles/enemies are on screen
Improved performance when a high number of players are on screen
      General lighting/dust particles improvements
      And more!
While these are focused in multiplayer you may be seeing an improvement in single player too
  • Fixed a number of issues with very old presents from old builds
  • Fixed the world icon for multiplayer to always show correctly when a hosted server is in hardmode
  • Fixed the tutorial messages overlapping one another
  • Fixed an extremely rare bug that was causing a world to be overwritten by another if with perfect timing you would leave the game as the host was leaving the game
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the Actuators to be shown behind the Wires
  • Fixed the Grapple Stick tutorial to trigger even if you don’t have a grappling hook equipped
  • Fixed issues with the cursor jumping in extremely specific circumstances when using the Sniper Rifle

Known issues
At the current time we are not able to iron out a full list of known fixes and workarounds, but we have a few issues that we want to highlight here that we are working on:

For the current list of active/functioning workarounds, see here: Mobile - Mobile 1.3 Launch: Known Issues and Workarounds

  • We are investigating the pink/black screens seen by some devices on launch and hope to have a fix as soon as possible

  • We are aware that a number of players are having issues with some boss progressions, or events like the martian madness. We are investigating potential issues but we would like to ask everyone to make sure before you report a bug, that you confirmed of all the conditions and requirements for spawns as we’ve seen a high volume of reports that do not correlate to bugs or glitches
    • Also as a reminder there is a known issue for martian madness in 1.3.0.7 coming from PC that causes the event to not work if you teleport quickly/are not in the centre section of your world. This is not scheduled to be fixed at this time as it is a legacy issue of PC 1.3.0.7 that would be fixed by future patches (1.3.1)

  • We are aware of a number of crashes related to previously corrupted data, we would encourage anyone that is having a crash on starting single player or multiplayer, or after selecting a character to send us their world/character saves from the OldSaves folder
    • Ideally a workaround is to manually move files away from the OldSaves and Players/Worlds folders and copying them in one by one, we apologize that this is a painful process, but it would mean you would find 1 of your worlds or characters has corrupted data but that could enable you to play as we’re investigating the issue

  • We are in the process of fixing the Golem spawn issue.
    • Golem will currently not spawn if you have your Power Cell actively highlighted in your inventory or hotbar
    • Un-highlight it and then walk up close to the Altar.
    • Hover your cursor over the Altar, tap it, and you should be good to go.

Again we would like to sincerely apologize for any inconvenience but rest assured that we are working around the clock to ensure as many issues are possible are taken care in these initial hotfixes!

Future Patches and Updates

We are listening to your feedback and bug reports!
Keep a lookout for a future patch in which we currently hope to address the following in some capacity:

  • Various crashes when going to the online section where you can connect to online servers (e.g. dedServers issue)

  • Additional jump options for the left stick - including the option for the up-jump from mobile 1.2
  • The return of "Autoswing for everything" - as a non-default option that players can enable from Settings.
  • Fixes for a variety of minor bugs
  • And more!
While we expect to address all of the above as soon as possible, we do have more plans for fixing the issues that are being highlighted by the community. However, we are not able to share more details at this time, as we’re trying to investigate and fix as many as we can so there will be more hotfixes coming as needed!

We would all like to thank you for your patience and understanding as we hope this will be the start of a great journey so our most sincere apologies for any issues you’re encountering!

Developer Commentary

Hello everyone! We’re happy to let you all know a new hotfix has been released for Terraria Mobile 1.3! In this hotfix you will find not only the usual suite of key fixes for common issues that have been identified post release, but also a handful of new control options - again, based on community feedback. Bear with us in our quest to get you updates as fast as possible, we are not able to fix everything in a single hotfix, but be at ease knowing more are coming as needed!

Again we would like to apologize for any issues that you’ve encountered and we want to thank you for all your feedback, reports and patience!

We are all extremely excited for the future and what is coming after these hotfixes - so if you’re not interested in the changes in this log, we have big plans to share once the launch fixes are done and things stabilize. This will include highly-demanded features such as controller support and more customization options!

Here are the improved features and bug fixes included in this patch:

index.php

New Features
  • Added all-new jumping options on the left stick (found in Settings ---> General), you can now set the jumping mode to any of the following:
    • Double Tap Up (Default) - Double Tap up on the left stick to trigger a jump/fly action. This matches the default from Mobile 1.3 release.
    • Single Tap Up - Single Tap up on the left stick to trigger a jump/fly action. A perfect middle ground between the old and the new.
    • Swipe up (Legacy) - Any upward movement on the left stick triggers a jump/fly action. This matches the default from Mobile 1.2.
    • Disabled - There is no means to trigger a jump/fly action from the left stick. For those that prefer the Jump Button.
  • In order to make room for the Jump Options in the Settings Menu "Tutorials On/Off" setting has been moved to Interface.
  • Added an option to enable Auto-Swing for most weapons
    • This is off by default, in order to keep with the intended core design of the game - where Auto-Swing is a weapon property tied to specific weapons.
    • This is located in Settings ---> Cursor.
    • Be aware a small selection of items have been excluded to avoid potential significant disruptions in gameplay (ex. Rope coils, thrown flails, magic mirror, etc.). Auto-Swing on these items resulted in unintended issues.
  • Revised defaults for "Aim & Use" and "Smart Cursor" for a number of items/weapons.
    • Due to the addition of an optional Auto-Swing in settings we decided to revise the defaults for each weapon for a better experience.
    • This will not impact any settings that you have put in place manually for tools/weapons.
    • If you want to try the new defaults you can restore it in Settings ---> Cursor, be aware there is no confirmation at this time!
  • Worlds will now be indicated in red if they are not compatible with the current version of Mobile Terraria. We do not recommend using worlds made in a non-1.3.0.7 compatible version, nor should you attempt to utilize worlds altered in any way - as even the slightest changes/modifications can cause unexpected issues
  • New Dedicated Mobile Server for PC application is available with this update. Everyone running a PC-based Dedicated Server for Mobile Terraria should update to this latest version.

index.php

Bugs Fixed
  • Fixed an issue that was causing difficulties with spawning the Golem when the player had the Lihzahrd Power Cell highlighted in their inventory or hotbar
  • Fixed an issue that was causing Biome Chests to not be opened by Biome Keys if the player had them highlighted in their inventory or hotbar
  • Fixed a 1.3.0.7 legacy issue that was causing Martian Madness to not spawn correctly in some circumstances (ex. by instantly using the magic mirror/not being in the correct spot in the world, and more)
  • Fixed a number of exploits that allowed duplication of items
    • Fixed an exploit that was causing the Guide to hand out free items…
    • Fixed a handful of other possible exploits
  • Fixed a number of issues that were affecting the DedServer.dat file causing players to crash when tapping on the online tab
    • While this issue was fixed, we would like to recommend players not to try and join servers that are not in the same version.
    • Similarly, we would recommend against the use of 3rd party apps to join servers (including those running tshock), as these are not supported methods of play.
    • As such, for any issues encountered while playing with the use of 3rd party apps, we will be unable to provide support.
    • If you are still encountering issues a workaround is to delete the DedServer.dat file, note that this will delete your list of online saved servers so you will have to input their information again using the “Add” button.
  • Fixed icons of duplicate items disappearing in the hotbar (i.e. you have 2 wood stacks in 2 hotbar slots, but could only see the icon of one stack)
  • Fixed the favourite highlight moving to the equipment side when this was not intended
  • Fixed an issue with Phasesabers causing instability/crashes in multiplayer
  • Fixed Phasesabers not appearing correctly in the crafting guide list
  • Fixed the "Bait Power" information not coming through localized, but rather always in English and other misc. strings not showing in the selected/intended language.
  • Fixed a number of issues that could cause the play timer to not increase as intended when playing characters/worlds
  • Fixed an issue in Russian and Brazilian Portugese that caused the world status to never show once you tap “Status” in the Dryad's dialog
  • Fixed the Sunstone and Moonstone tooltips going off screen in Spanish on smaller devices
  • Fixed an issue that could cause World saves to be overwritten by an online world
  • Fixed an issue where online servers would not tell connecting users when the server is full. A new server.exe for windows has been uploaded, you can download this via the link below:

index.php

Known Issues

As before, we wanted to share a handful of known issues that remain in this current build This is not meant to be an exhaustive list, but rather a selection of issues we would like to highlight, some with known workarounds:

  • We are aware of issues on devices that support Vulkan and especially on Android 10. Impacts could range from reduced FPS to the OS shutting down the game as it is taking up all of the available RAM. We are currently investigating a solution and would like to apologize for the inconvenience!
    • We would recommend delaying the Android 10 update at this time as this may cause the game to not run correctly until we can deploy a fix
  • We are aware that players are encountering crashes when pressing singleplayer or multiplayer or after selecting a character, ideally we would ask you to send your player and world files contained in the OldSaves folder. You can send these to us via Support : Customer Support. The guides listed below will help you to better understand where these files are located and how you can make copies to send our way.

  • A workaround is to temporarily move all your player and save files outside of the OldSaves, Players and Worlds folders and move them one by one until you can identify the one that is not letting you progress to the game
  • In Terraria Mobile 1.2, worlds had a different set of bounds/spacing than all other platforms of the game. Thus, after conversion, you might find parts of your world are outside of the area you can reach. This is sadly an issue stemming from changes made in the previous mobile version that potentially cannot be solved in the new version without breaking a large list of other things. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused!
  • We’re investigating issues in generation of Hard Mode. That said, please keep in mind the following before reporting a bug related to this issue:
    • Once you defeat the Wall of Flesh, the process of converting the world is started. This can take upwards to a few minutes depending on device spec. We do not recommend stopping your play session or closing the app as this process is working!
    • Destroying altars before the process is complete might not spawn the ore as intended, so we recommend waiting for the process to finish first
    • Once the process is completed, there will be a chat message notifying you of its completion: “The ancient spirits of light and dark have been released.” and you should receive the correct Achievements unlocks
    • If you exit the world and see the message “setting hard mode” please leave the game to finish this process as it is not stuck or crashing, it is just taking a long time
  • We are aware that player files coming from 1.2 are showing their played time reset, we’re really sorry but this is something we are not able to carry forward from an older version
  • We are aware that explored maps are not carried over from 1.2. We are sorry but it is not possible for us to carry over the previous map data as it is incompatible with the new system
  • We are aware a number of iOS devices are showing a pink screen when playing the game and/or having repeated crashes. We’re working tirelessly to fix these issues and we would like to apologize for the inconvenience
    • While we’ve received a number of reports of pink screens for Android, we would recommend that players avoid sideloading builds on possibly incompatible devices or via any other methods (root device, custom OS firmware, etc.). These are not supported, and we cannot guarantee the game will work in these circumstances.
    • If you’ve not done any of the above on Android and are still seeing the pink screen, please send us a report with as much info as possible on your device by reporting this bug here > Terraria: Console & Mobile Bug Form
  • We are aware in some rare circumstances you can still get your world overwritten by an online one if you go to main menu at the same exact time as the host. While we investigate this issue, we highly recommend players to perform regular backups and to coordinate with the host when quitting the game (ex. make sure all Clients have successfully exited before closing down the server)
  • We are aware that some Android devices are not displaying correct notch support when making the app full screen. We’re investigating the issue but have no specifics to share at this time
  • We’ve received a number of reports of the rolling back of saves/game, not saving as intended, etc. We hope to have improvements soon, but that said, before you report a bug for the game not saving correctly please ensure you’re aware of the following:
    • The “Main Menu” button in settings saves the game at the same time as it sends you back to the main menu
    • Make sure auto-save is set to on in settings, Auto-Save is set to save every ~10-11 minutes as long as the game is open and active on your screen
      • We intend to add more clarity on this in a future hotfix/patch
    • If you swipe away the game from your app tray the game will not save. This is akin of force quitting the app, or, if you’ve had experience on a PC it is as if you’re pressing ALT+F4 to force shutdown the game
    • We recommend ensuring you always go back to main menu before stopping a session if you intend to save progress!
  • We’re investigating an issue that causes odd behaviors when splitting item stacks. If you’re experiencing/seeing stacks of 255 items after splitting an existing item stack, please let us know with as much information as possible. Ideally, videos showing how to reproduce the issue would help significantly!
    • Send us your information via the Bug Report Link > Terraria: Console & Mobile Bug Form
    • Please make sure to mention if you have modified/cheated items in the game when sending info regarding this issue!
  • We’re investigating an issue that causes items to lose their modifiers if they are crafted as the inventory is full, causing them to fly to the ground
    • A temporary workaround is to make sure that you have enough space in the inventory as the item is crafted
  • We’re aware Medusa is spawning pre-Hardmode, this is intended for now as it is a PC 1.3.0.7 issue that will be rectified in future major release patches
  • We're aware of a glitch with the Dynasty Wall that causes black patches to show sometimes
  • We're aware that the dresser button is incorrectly rendering when wearing armor/on a mount
  • We're aware that some tooltips don't update if you change languages as you're playing
    • A temporary workaround is to go back to main menu and go back in-game or change the language from the main menu
index.php

FAQ
  • I cannot see my cloud saves/some of my files are missing!
    • We’re really sorry to hear that you’ve lost access to the cloud saves, as stated in the past, at this current time the game does not support in-game cloud saves for a number of reasons. However, you may still be able to pull over your old cloud-only saves!
      • On Android you can find them in your Google Drive in the Terraria folder
      • On iOS, due to the way old cloud saves were stored we do not have a way to access these files, we’re investigating a way to make these available for a future update.
  • I’m seeing a “*L” message when joining a server/no message/cannot connect to this specific server!
    • Make sure you are joining a server hosted on the provided exe for 1.3.0.7 only and not other servers that have been hosted with other tools
    • If you attempt to join a version that is not 1.3.0.7 and you encounter any issues we’re sorry but we are not able to provide support as this is not a supported functionality of the game.
    • In general, we don’t recommend the usage of 3rd party apps at this time either
  • Why only 60 FPS cap?
    • We are sorry, but we cannot support more than 60 FPS at this time. While we’re aware that a number of devices are now supporting 90 and even 120 FPS, Terraria is not built to support it at the current time
      • We strongly advise players to not try and circumvent the 60 FPS cap as it will cause unpredictable issues when playing that we are not able to support.
  • I threw the Guide Voodoo Doll in the lava and the Wall of Flesh is not spawning!
    • Please ensure that the Guide NPC is alive and well before attempting this!
    • Also note that if you have died to the Wall of Flesh, it cannot be respawned until it completes its journey to the opposite side of the world from which it was spawned.
    • On large worlds, this can take several minutes!
  • My Guide or other NPCs are not respawning!
    • Please ensure that you have a suitable unoccupied housing available, it does take a little while to get NPCs to move back in!
    • Utilize the Housing Menu (Inventory ---> Housing) to check where NPCs currently reside and to test the suitableness of any empty housing.
  • Plantera bulbs are not spawning, but I’ve killed all of the mech bosses as required!
    • Please ensure that you have thoroughly explored the Jungle, as we’ve received a number of reports of this and in all circumstances in which we had a world sent to us we could find multiple bulbs, just in places not yet explored!
    • For additional information on the conditions of the Plantera's Bulb to spawn please check the wiki
  • My map resets if I enable/disable it from settings!
    • If you disable the minimap on the main menu and then enable it in-game the map will reset. We would recommend only disabling the minimap as needed as we're investigating this issue

Build notes for v1.3.0.7.3 build 100260, Available 9/12/19 (Android), 9/17/19 (iOS)

index.php

Developer Commentary

Hello everyone! In this smaller than usual hotfix we focused on a series of Android specific issues that were preventing players on the new version of the OS to play the game, and some key issues in gameplay that happened after Hotfix 2. While this update doesn’t contain a number of fixes for crashes/performance that have been reported, we didn’t want to hold back on fixes on other serious issues that were raised from the community.

As a result of this Android focus, coupled with an unfortunate delay in the iOS build, we will be releasing 1.3.0.7.3 today for Android only.

iOS should now have access to 1.3.0.7.3 (9/17/19)

Given that the bulk of the major issues covered with this hotfix are on Android only, the team felt it would be wise to go ahead and get this out now even though iOS is not yet ready. The delay should only be a few days, and then both platforms will be back on track, with both on 1.3.0.7.3. The team is planning to have the 1.3.0.7.4 hotfix in testing most of next week, as it contains some bigger "behind the scenes" changes that will need a bit longer to check out.

The team is hoping that 1.3.0.7.4 will get us close if not there in regards to having the launch build in a nice, stable place so that work can begin on our first post-launch update: the Customization and Controller Support Feature Update!

That said, rest assured that we’re hard at work to improve the performance and crashes and other hotfixes are coming as necessary!

index.php

New Features
  • Improved combat targeting responsiveness if FPS are lower than ~50 or the pacing is uneven, this should result in a severe reduction of missed shots that go towards the cursor
  • Adjusted the money trough to not be Auto-Swing as it was not intended to be
index.php

Bugs Fixed
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the jump button to be unable to be used as intended in some circumstances when holding the Movement Stick. This should make wall jumping and exploration easier if you like to mix and match jumping methods!
  • Fixed an issue that was causing Yoyos to show all interaction buttons in the disabled state, while forcing settings in Aim Only on some Android devices
  • Fixed a number of issues with Android 10 and Vulkan API interactions - these were causing memory leaks and crashing for devices running Android 10
  • Fixed an extremely specific crash when you had a Pet that would play a sound as soon as you join in a world
index.php

Known Issues
This is not an exhaustive list, but rather a selection of issues we would like to highlight, with known workarounds. The list is focused on issues from this build. For still-active known issues from previous builds, please open the Spoiler below:

  • We are aware of a number of reports of iOS 13 beta crashes, while we’re investigating we would suggest to send us as much info as possible of your device HERE as the crash might not be related to the new beta
    • Keep in mind using beta OS, while most of the time should not cause issues, can be a source of instability, we would always recommend not using beta software if you are uncomfortable in potential issues

  • We are aware that a number of items are behaving strangely with “Autoswing” on as they are not intended to behave this way, an example being items that can summon pets or light pets, we expect to fix in a future hotfix/patch. We’re really sorry for the inconvenience

FAQ
If you wish to check a more comprehensive list please refer to previous FAQ entries in previous posts!
  • I was able to connect in multiplayer but now I crash instantly when I go there!
    • We’re really sorry if this is happening to you, if this is the case we would suggest to copy the DedServer.dat file in another folder, if this fixes the issue please send us the file using the 505 Games Customer Service Portal, as we can investigate the issue further
    • If removing that file does not fix your crash this could mean a host of other reasons, please report the issue with as much device/system information at our customer service page.

  • When I play the game the first time after an update I get a strange message saying I need to buy the game, but I bought the game! (Android Only)
    • We’re really sorry you’re experiencing this issue, this should be resolved by connecting to the internet and following the directions of making sure your time/date are set correctly and you’re logged in, this should ensure a one time check is performed and you should not see this message again :)

Hello everyone! This is just a tiny hotfix for android only to adjust an issue with the Google Play License check, nothing else is changing and the patch will be for Android only as it is not an issue that affects iOS devices!

That said 1.3.0.7.5 is still very much underway will contain all previously scheduled fixes on both iOS and Android as expected!

Hello everyone!

We are approaching what we hope will be the end of our post-launch hotfix waves for the launch of Terraria Mobile 1.3 - so we hope that everyone has enjoyed this version of Terraria thus far... and that you have also appreciated what fixes and changes we have been able to add in the handful of hotfix waves to-date. 1.3.0.7.5 brings some pretty important new features to bear that we think will help sort out some of the stability issues that low-end device players have been experiencing. We also took the time to add an indicator for Hard Mode transition progress - so you will no longer have to wonder if your game has stopped progressing and can get a sense for just how much longer you have to wait before you can get to smashing altars and collecting those new ores!

Of course, we have the usual array of fixes in place here - so be sure to take a look at the full list below for any bugs that have been... bugging you. ;)

If all goes well, this may be our last hotfix before we move on to the next feature update - focused on Controller Support and Control Customization!

We have also submitted 1.3.0.7.5 to Amazon for approval, so Amazon players should be on Terraria Mobile 1.3 soon!
NOTE: Please check the Amazon minimum specifications below to see if your device is eligible for the update.

Amazon Minimum Specifications

Amazon minimum specifications will be similar to what is supported on Android (OpenGL 3.0, 1gb of available RAM, etc.). However, given the limited number of available Amazon devices, we were able to list out the entire set of supported Amazon devices in the spoiler below. If your device is not on this list, you will not be able to receive the Terraria 1.3 update. However, your existing Terraria 1.2 version will remain fully functional as it is now.

New Features & Changes

  • Added a new section of graphical options to tweak the texture quality, this allows you to set a number of texture to either low or high quality. Using Low Quality textures substantially lowers the amount of RAM needed by the game. This can have a significant impact on stability for lower-end devices.
    • The game will also try to best select the low/high textures depending on available RAM once the game is started, if you are experiencing random crashes during gameplay we suggest trying to set to low textures in settings
    • Note that High/Low Quality is not expected to have a meaningful impact on FPS/Performance - only enhancing stability.

  • Improved the overall stability of the game, so you should see fewer issues/crashes on devices with lower RAM. That said, there might still be cases that have not been resolved, so feel free to report them HERE

  • NOTE: This update raises the minimum iOS version to iOS10, and any player who previously downloaded 1.3, but could not play (crashing, etc.) due to being below min spec, can now "go back" to 1.2 by 'updating' their game back down to the 1.2 version
    • This only applies to players in this situation (<iOS 10), there is no support for "swapping versions" outside of this.
    • This is being done because there is no way that the game can be made stable on such old/low spec devices - even with the new graphics settings. We want you to have a playable game first and foremost - and so you can choose to downgrade to 1.2 if your 1.3 is unstable.
    • If you choose to do this, you will see the follow message. Simply tap "Download" to downgrade your game to 1.2.

  • Added a new indicator when Hard Mode conversion is in progress
    • The team noted a potential issue where a scheduled autosave and Hard Mode conversion could occur at the same time, so this has been properly prioritized.
    • If a world save is in progress the Hard Mode conversion will start once saving the world data is finished so you may see the indicator staying on 0% for a period of time
    • This indicator exists both in-game and if you exit your world before it is completed.
1570112263346.png

  • To fix an issue that was causing the map data to reset when you disabled/enabled map data while in game, we disabled the Map enabled/disabled setting from when in-game. This is now only available from the Main Menu screen.

  • To correct an issue with Stardust/Nebula wings having swapped hovering we’ve updated the balance of these wings and the vortex wings to match 1.3.1, while this is not matching our usual intention to keep balance to 1.3.0.7 we decided it would be for the best.

Terraria Mobile 1.3.0.7.5 requires a new version of the Dedicated Terraria Mobile Server for PC (for anyone hosting an online mobile server via their PC). You can obtain the latest version by following the link below, or checking out the front page of Terraria.org.

  • Fixed an issue that caused some maps that were working before the .2 hotfix to now be recognized
    • Keep in mind that we are not able to provide support for maps modified in any way outside of the capabilities of the game and that we encourage caution when downloading maps from unofficial sources as we cannot predict issues that might arise when using these maps
  • Fixed Temple Key to work when highlighted
  • Fixed being able to drag back items in the 6th accessory/dye/vanity slot in normal mode when you should only be able to add items to these slots in Expert mode
  • Fixed buttons being in the enabled state when dead as a Ghost in Hardcore. This was causing confusion since you couldn’t use them anyway.
  • Fixed a legacy 1.3.0.7. PC issue that caused the Wall of Flesh to not spawn again if you go to the main menu as you’re fighting it
  • Fixed the Magic Missile not behaving properly with Auto-Swing enabled
  • Fixed a crash when knocking down a dresser while using it to change your clothes
  • Fixed a number of issues with the dresser “Change” button
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the game to back out to the main menu when inputting a wrong password when joining a multiplayer game
  • Potentially fixed an issue causing a crash when swapping to a smaller world after you exit a bigger world in the same session
  • Potentially fixed an issue that could cause hardmode conversion to not complete as intended in some circumstances
  • Fixed an extremely rare overlap that could happen on tablets if you move the controls too close together
  • Fixed an issue when copying in the game folders more than 100 world or players
    • NOTE: we currently do not recommend exceeding 100 worlds or players (each) as, if you do, some will not be displayed on the list until some are deleted!
  • Fixed a number of issues that would cause items to be created with modifiers but then lose the modifier

Known Issues
This is not an exhaustive list, but rather a selection of issues we would like to highlight, with known workarounds. The list is focused on issues from this build. For still-active known issues from previous builds, please open the Spoiler below:

MOBILE FILE STRUCTURE EXPLAINED

ANDROID - BACKING UP AND RESTORING PLAYERS/WORLDS

IOS - BACKING UP AND RESTORING PLAYERS/WORLDS

  • We are aware some specific devices cannot see locally hosted games, we are investigating the causes please send us a report with as much info as possible [HERE] making sure to specify what device you are using in as much detail as possible!
  • We're aware that the Hardmode progress indicator is not currently displayed when Hardmode is set in multiplayer, but Hardmode transition does successfully complete as expected.
  • We are aware that an incorrect message is displayed when entering the wrong password in the server (i.e. shows “Lost Connection”)
  • We are aware that in some cases the water might take excessively long to settle, while we’re investigating the cause we would recommend to not modify your world with external tools
    • If you have not modified the world in any way we suggest to have the FPS counter enabled if you are seeing numbers in brackets changing it means the process is still on going, so allow enough time as this is usually a one time only process
    • If you are experiencing this issue please send us your .wld file HERE
  • We are aware that if you are mounted while using a dresser the character will be offset in the “Change” button

New Features

  • On Android the back button now will correctly navigate back on the main menu screens and will now open settings when playing instead of opening the inventory

Bugs Fixed

  • Significantly improved the visual quality of NPCs when on low quality, while still maintaining the benefits of the setting on performance
  • Fixed a few issues when trying to craft/check into crafting hardened sand variants with the Guide
  • Fixed NPCs looking blurry on high settings
  • Fixed the max players slider to reset when backing out of the multiplayer hosting screen
  • Fixed a permissions issue on Amazon devices when the parental controls are enabled
  • Fixed an issue with removing dedicated servers from the online tab that caused them to reappear when you restarted the game
  • Fixed an issue causing the wrench of the Mechanic to show incorrectly when other NPCs were on screen at the same time
  • Fixed the ellipsis of the Suspicious Looking Tentacle description that had 4 dots instead of 3...
  • Fixed the top part of doors showing incorrectly on low settings
  • Fixed an issue with legacy controls and how they worked with the Shrimpy Truffle mount and Celestial Shell
  • Fixed an issue with Negative Paint causing incorrect outlines
  • Fixed a number of issues with dyes applied to pets, light pets and various grappling hook types on both high and low quality settings
    • Keep in mind a number of these will visually match PC 1.3.0.7 and not PC 1.3.5.3 so there might be intended differences between versions for the time being
  • Fixed a few edge cases when equipping dyes straight from a chest instead of dragging the dyes into the inventory that could cause a crash or lost items when executed with extremely specific steps

Known Issues

  • On some devices the UDP broadcasting to find local games is not working as intended due to how the device kernel has been compiled. We are sorry for the inconvenience and investigating a possible solution
    • A workaround is to go to the online section and try and connect to the IP of the device that is hosting, as if it was an online server
    • For now the only confirmed devices are the Google Pixel 3a and Vivo v9, if your device is experiencing the same issue please let us know the model!
      • We also expect a number of HTC devices to present this issue, specifically the HTC One, HTC Evo or HTC Desire
    • Do note on some specific professional networks, UDP broadcasting might be filtered by the router employed
  • We are aware that when hosting multiplayer you are not able to see the hard mode conversion indicator
  • We are aware of an issue when quickly switching from high to low settings
    • Our recommendation is to not change the setting multiple times quickly but to allow 1~2 sec until the issue can be resolved
  • We are aware in some instances settling liquids can take a long time or not finish, while we’re investigating there’s a few things to keep in mind
    • If you edit the game with external tools it might cause the liquids to be unable to settle, depending on the edits performed. We are unable to provide assistance in this case as we do not officially support editing of maps outside of normal gameplay
    • While often it might look like the game is stuck on settling liquids, if you enable the FPS counter it should be noticeable that the game is still processing the liquid by the number that is fastly moving. If this does not stop after a while of entering in-game it means there’s an issue with a liquid source somewhere in the world
    • If the process never stops, we recommend if possible to load a recent backup, or try and identify the water source that is not stopping. Once found we recommend sending us the file on the 505 Games Customer Service Portal and as much information as possible so we can better investigate the issue
  • We are aware there’s been reports of splitting stacks giving an outcome of 255/255 when the quantity is much lower
    • Currently we have not been able to reproduce/prove this in our versions, though we have identified this issue happening with files not obtained from legitimate means. We recommend to not use these files as we are not able to offer support, and they might contain other modifications that could harm your device or cause loss of data.
  • We are aware that there are still a number of unresolved crashes/hangs or other similar issues, while we're working to resolve these as hard as we can please ensure when reporting an issue you add as much relevant information as possible to help us resolve these issues, generally information that is helpful is:
    • Version of the game you encountered the issue (ex. 1.3.0.7.6 build 285)
    • Brand of device and operating system (ex. Google Pixel 3a, Android 10)
    • Screenshot/videos of the issue as it is occurring, or a strong description on the exact steps you took to make it happen
    • Attaching the .plr and .wld data
    • And anything that could help us reproduce the issue!
    • Without the above information in most cases it becomes extremely complicated to resolve some issues, as such please always add as much information that is relevant as possible for a speedy resolution!
  • We are aware that when a negative paint is used on certain blocks, the outline occasionally shows incorrectly by displaying white pixels on its edge
    • This is only on High settings due to an unforeseen issue, we're looking to adjust this in the future

FAQ

If you wish to check a more comprehensive list please refer to previous FAQ entries in previous posts!
  • I cannot get NPCs to move in my house!
    • We’ve received a number of reports of this, what we can recommend is to always use the housing query to confirm the status of a room (found inside the menu with a house icon) as all the reports we’ve seen were missing some element or had an issue
    • When in doubt we also recommend to check with the wiki House
    • Keep in mind NPCs do take a bit of time to move in or might have unique conditions that need to be met for them to move in/respawn in case of their untimely death!

Developer Commentary

Hello everyone! We were made aware of a handful of issues with yesterday's 1.3.0.7.6 update - so the team has been hard at work since last night in order to get a quick turnaround hotfix to you today for these issues. Android should be available now, with iOS/Amazon to follow as well as Android for players that bought Terraria through the Free Trial app prior to 1.3. As these issues primarily impacted Android devices, we did not want to hold back on getting the fixes out to Android ASAP.

We will get the other platforms out as quickly as possible, but the review/submission timelines there are longer than on Android.
