...is there any way to not let it take up the whole page but to autosize it to the table's contents?

I don't believe so. Might be among the more complex code options, but its a pretty complicated bbcode mess in the first place.

One thing tho: The code's characters count towards the 140 characters limit, apparently. Which isn't as yay as I first thought because code eats up a load of space. //Knows because he's always written stories in HTML.

My celebratory chicken hug gif took up almost all the characters I had to spare, that's for sure. I literally can't fit the word "new" in there like I wanted.

We are starting off with more basic table elements. Trust me, these get complicated code-wise...and "stuff" can happen (we found one big thing in the 11th hour that messed with the formatting). *IF* Tables get used a lot and become a big "thing", I'll fiddle with the options we have available more (it's pretty broad, including stuff like excel exporting) - but that will be very time-consuming and I wanted to see if they got used first.

Remember not to overdo them as stated, though. We I don't want any warnings just for a load of pictures on profiles, and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't, either.

I don't think there will be an issue with posting lots of images on your own profile. As with anything, its not about use, but abuse.

Indeed. Caveat emptor on your images you post on your profile....or others. Take the time to examine and check out the image in terms of size and load first...

Change cells within a ROW by using the | character. Move to the next row by hitting enter.

For instance, the following basic table:

Is made with the code:

Notice that the top row is bolded and centered . . . this is because the first row automatically acts as the header row.

Well, it is a lot of hand-coding BBCode. I would *NOT* use the Rich Text Editor for this...or, if you do, only sparingly. To build on Lein's comments...

(Do note that as we said in the announcement...we will help as we can, but we just don't have the time/staff to debug everyone's tables )

As an example, here is the code for my item table on page one....I only used the RTE for the hotlinks to the wiki.

One hint I'd give is that each CELL of the table has to be formatted individually....for example, you cannot center an entire row or column with one tag.

Hmm... Tables are basically the same as in HTML. If only I had any use for them, I would be using them all the time.

Had a whole website built on tables full of hyperlinks and formatted text back in the day. And by "back in the day" I mean in the early 00s.
