Terraria State of the Game - March 2022

Can you explain in what way increased stack size is unbalanced or breaks the game? Under what specific circumstances does inventory stack capacity have such an impact, aside from inconvenience when it is full?
I think i already explained this above... simple, the exploration will be more easy. Because now you will be going less to surface, this change everything, the grace of master mode is the slowness of exploration, because the enemies have high damage, and high life.

I can see your gripes with that change, and I understand how you feel, I disagree with it I like the change, but I completely respect your opinion. I am just a normal user, but even though others might see it is a silly or unusual, I ask others also respect his opinion, and not allow this to cause any unnessecary strife.

Whatever dude... if they really implement this, I'll stop playing this game forever.

of course they're really going to implement it
And when they implement it, I will delete Terraria from my library. Including the two dlcs I bought. Edit: Unfortunately there will be no way to delete the normal and shiny badge both level 5 that I made... nor remove my Labor of Love votes that I voted for them every year.

I DO think a launcher of sorts would be very nice to have. It would be ridiculously easy with Steam's Beta functionality and pop-up launchers, and would go miles to give everyone access to the experience they enjoyed most.

This doesn't really make sense at all. Having 9999 stacks will not affect the damage and HP of enemies, and it will also not affect the amount of time spent obtaining items. There is no differences between the time spent obtaining three stacks of Ironskin Potions in 1.4.3 for 90 total, and the time spent obtaining a single stack of 90 Ironskin potions in 1.4.4. The only thing that will change is that less inventory and storage space will be taken, making the game better. This is especially convenient for DPS testing bosses where I constantly needed to refresh my buffs between attempts and make sure I haven't run out.

Greetings Terrarians!

March already... well almost April really?! 2022 is flying by - but we are sure glad to see Spring starting to come into full bloom and with it, a lot of the plans we have been discussing in earlier States of the Game are close to coming to fruition! 1.4.3 for Consoles and Mobile (parity... at least for a time!) is right around the corner, Labor of Love draws ever-closer, and we have a lot of exciting things to come on the community and merch fronts as well. So much has already happened this year, but we are just getting warmed up.

Let's see what is in store shall we?

TERRARIA - LABOR OF LOVE UPDATE

The team remains hard at work on a variety of Quality of Life and Balance updates alongside some other fun additions that will be coming your way with the Labor of Love update. We often get asked what we mean by "Quality of Life" updates - versus, say fixes or new features. So, we figured now would be a good time to show off one such QOL update that we are particularly happy to see added to Terraria. It is one that is a long time in coming - and one we figure will be pretty much universally popular.

What is this wizardry?!?

Simply put, we are increasing the stack size of nearly every stackable item in the game to 9999. Please note that there are some exceptions to this, but only around 10-15 which had to be kept as-is for mechanical purposes.

This is just one of the Quality of Life upgrades that you can expect once Labor of Love arrives later this year.

What else does Labor of Love have in store? When will it arrive? Well, you will have to stay tuned to find out!

WHAT ELSE IS GOING ON?

The team has been almost solely focused on the various aspects of Labor of Love now that it is in full developmental swing. That said, we are quite eager to get back onto progressing our second game - which we will do once Labor of Love is done! :)

Hello everyone!

We have some definite progress this month that you will want to check out - tML will be doing monthly previews starting in April... and an update on tML 1.4 timing. Want all of the details? Read on!

Moving forward, tML on Steam will have two different branches/betas: 'preview' and 'stable'. Most players on stable will be able to play without the fear of tModLoader updates breaking the game without notice. Each preview will be live for a month, giving modders time to update their mods and react to new changes, before becoming 'stable' at the end of the month. We encourage all 1.3 modders to come and start porting their mods to the preview next month! With some concerted effort, feedback and support, we hope to have the first 'stable' release of tML 1.4 in May, for Terraria 1.4's 2 year anniversary. For more info, come join us on Discord, and watch the collaborators and [TML 1.4 ALPHA] channels!

As always, you can keep track the current progress and such more in real time at tModLoader/tModLoader (But note that the completion percentage doesn't mean anything, because issues and PRs don't have weights.)

Developers who are willing to contribute may do so by doing PRs to the tModLoader/tModLoader branch. (See tModLoader/tModLoader)

TMODLOADER ISSUES/BUGS

CONSOLES - PLAYSTATION/XBOX/SWITCH

The team remains hard at work putting the finishing touches on the upcoming 1.4.1 - 1.4.3 updates for Console and Mobile. We remain fully on-track as of now to get this update in everyone's hands in April. We are very close to being able to submit to all first parties for approval - but we cannot give an exact launch window yet because we do not know how long or how many review passes any given company will want. That said, we are getting close!

To tide you over, here is a little teaser of what is coming your way (from Mobile this time)... watch the cursor closely.

The team is feeling pretty good about console at this point, but we know a handful of bugs and issues are still wandering out there in the wild. We have most of these documented (again, the best way to make sure your issue is seen is to file a Bug Report in the TCF Bug Section by pressing the button below!)

Hello everyone!

Mobile news is much the same as the news for consoles... on track for April. Repeating that here in case you skipped straight here. :)

Thanks as always for the honor and trust you give us each month to work on Terraria - it is not a responsibility that we take lightly, and we look forward to bringing more amazing things to you all as we move forward.

Greetings Terrarians!

Here's the latest and greatest happenings on the Community side of things. Thanks as always for being the most engaged and awesome gaming Community ever!

TERRARIA HAS A NEW OFFICIAL WIKI HOME

In case you missed the news, the Official Terraria wiki has moved to terraria.wiki.gg! As we shared in the news post, we made this move primarily to be able to have greater creative control over the appearance, ad content, etc. of the wiki in order to bring things together in a more consistent way for the long term. As in the past, Re-Logic receives nothing (revenue, etc) from the wiki - our involvement here is strictly to maximize the experience for the Terraria fans.

So, head on over to the new Official Terraria Wiki today, update your bookmarks, and help us spread the word about the new home for all things Terraria!

---

Just a few days later, both the Thorium and Calamity Wikis made the move to wiki.gg as well!

After all these years

The stack size has increased to 9999
I can have them all

No, because with a smaller stack your inventory would be full more easily, forcing you to go to SURFACE, you have no arguments man.

you're one of those people who would mentally snap if easy mode was added to dark souls, aren't you? %-_-

i just don't get why people despise the idea of improving things...

not sure what you mean by "DLCs you bought"... they didn't sell any DLC... every single update for terraria was free. :dryadwhat:

you denouncing any and all support for re-logic and terraria cause of them making the game BETTER... is truly mad.
I have no problem adding easy mode in Dark Souls as long as it DOESN'T AFFECT THE HARD MODE. This update will affect Master Mode, which is what you DO NOT PLAY.

I bought all dlcs music of terraria, otherworld etc.

Actually, both points he made were perfectly valid
Yes, while increasing inventory stack size may be an improvement to exploration, the Enimies won’t change
It’ll be almost entireley the same, you can just have bigger stacks
It doesn’t even add more slots, just increases stack size
So, in reality, it’s mainly good if you are in journey mode (or classic) and are building a ginormous structure
Becaue you can carry more blocks
And yes, while it may increase overall inventory capacity, as it’s increasing the stack size so you can put more stacks of 999items together, it dosen’t change anything else
It’s best for mining and gathering resources/building
