If it was a ranged weapon, what ammo would it shoot?

just like the space gun, laser rifle, heat ray and charged blaster cannon

They could have created a new type of ammo, like they did with the stynger and nail gun. I'm just a bit disappointed because I'm a ranger in pretty much everything, and it looked so cool in trailers.

But what kinda ammo? Laser ammo doesn't make sense...

Power cells or something. The point is I'm just a little let down.

If Laser Minigun was ranged then there wouldn't be anything cool for mage except last prism.
