What is the white substance surrounding the honey pools?

those are bubble blocks, players can freely pass through them but liquid cant

Yep, these are cool, though you have to fill them up everytime you reload the world.

Well, it would be much easier with Mechanical Cart.

It's recommended to fight him with Post-Plantera gear. If you find yourself failing too often, make him your fifth HM boss that you duke out with.

I think he wants to have pre-Duke gear earlier. These can be pretty powerful, after all and with good tactic you may get him. You don't have to be post-Plantera specifically, chlorophyte bullets do good work as well.
