It actually is. 1TB HDD in UK costs 30-40 pounds as far as I'm aware. Even around 200 PLN in Poland doesn't seem that much for me. Installing actually is easy, because I already did that.
That's why you need 2 similiar HDDs... which helps with recording a lot. Most PCs nowadays can hold at least 4 of them, so I would rather say it could. I don't know if SSD could speed it up, though.
Most PC users will speak of multiple HDDs when they actually mean they've broken their HDDs in half with some half-assed software and called it a day. I was just avoiding the statistical possibility of someone mentioning that as a thing that would help. Because having your free HDD space spread over two parts instead of one would improve performance... Heh.
Well, I'm sometimes wondering where have these people been in the first place. Having 2 HDDs helps recording since it takes off some of the load if you split it between them.
$300-$400? Those prices literally hurt. I can buy it cheaper in PLN...
Obviously, some people think if they read something in the internet or help someone with with a small PC problem, they are as some kind of IT specialist.
I've seen the result of people paying heed to "internet pros."
They're never nice, and it's annoying having to explain customers of "It's In The Internet So It's True" mentality that yes, doing what they did would only result in a burnt CPU, not any performance increase.
Well, it takes a complete idiot to destroy the PC by themselves. Though on the other hand, I've heard about a lot of these people, so something's not right... Like someone try to put GPU into radiator. I couldn't stop laughing when someone told me that. Not everybody realizes, that some things just do not seem to work. Well, they do, but it's just too late.
I would like to reiterate, that Darth most likely doesn't want to get any upgrades to his PC for this reason in the first place, as if he did not win, he would just be losing money, and if he did win, well, he'd just be using that money for the upgrade he made solely for making something to enter the contest with.
He's just being Pixel... Small.
I love how it turned into discussion about HDDs. I only gave a proposition to buy it, didn't prompt him to do that. The other ways involve taking load off CPU, clearing some of the HDD ( defragmentation? ), lowering settings ( doesn't seem to work that much in Terraria, but... ). Also Terraria has that weird thing, that makes your CPU use only 1 core, despite the settings.
At least it's how it works for me, don't know about darth. Also PC could be quite old. Using a recording program that takes small amounts of resources does well, too.
