there are a couple of exceptions though, there is a tournament going on for high hero of the universe to stop a god killer... but otherwise it is pretty much free roam.

Meelee broke when they added projectiles

Partially agree. I personally think the projectiles should not be as powerful as they are, as melee being close up and personal doesn't really happen anymore.
