But do you equally criticize the rape culture in America which promotes the over sexualization of women through not just one medium but *all*. It's easy to stand out and say that some anime is so destructive in its image of women and sex etc etc. But what about pornography? If you're going to start that argument then I think porn needs to be addressed far before anime.

My problem is not with the sexualization. Sex is a natural thing hardwired into animal life. And yes, I do have problem with certain porns. What I have a problem with anime is the illusion it makes on certain people. When you come to japan, human beings don't behave like that, and the country certainly isn't the AnimeLand trope. I have no problem with anime. Not at all. I have problems with illusions.

Considering one involves real people, I'd say porn. And illusions is a pretty broad spectrum which would encompass essentially everything to some degree. After all - a lie is just an illusion of truth. You must be against a great deal :3

But some are madmen that have dellusions about it, and trading real life relationships and socialization for the illusion of finding a "paragon girlfriend". They will never find her, because there's no "paragon" to begin with. See dating syms.

I agree with your point. I just think pointing the finger of blame at anime specifically is missing the actual cause.

Yes, I dislike porn. And I never watched any. Though I have to say it's healthy for there to be sexualization, both for men and women. I think the technology increase benefits in many ways, and damages on others. Porn is also the source of many dellusions. Many will think sex will be like that. It surely isn't, at least commonly. I'd hate to see us going back to the dark ages.
