Don't ever follow people or follow back?

follows aren't that useful in my opinion, emp. Also it reminds me of the friend thing on facebook/G+ and the like of those, and I kinda ran away from there because I couldn't stand that "hey I'm following you, now you have to follow me in return!" I value more a "hi there, how is it going?", than a *X is now following you* (and then you never hear anything from them), honestly.
