Tbh it needs more detail It looks very "flat" from my perspective.

the pillar is a work in progress, of course. Had a couple ideas and I'm still playing with tiles and stuff. It's that flame on top that kinda bothers me. It gives a feel too much "toonish"

You could try making the flame something else, like a crystal perhaps, or an altar of sacrifice.

I feel like that would be a good place for an altar of sacrifice. You could put on some candles and decoration that would give that vibe, but you could also make formations around it. There's many ways to make an altar like that.

3d buildings in a 2d environment are hella difficult. the concept was cool and all but I decided that i'll scrap the whole thing and think about something else, for the central part of the temple
