Quite a bit of that stuff was in before now, it just wasn't as aggressive as it is now.
Plus, it's not like communication is Youtube's strong point, so no one knew about this stuff until people started complaining about something they don't understand completely.
It actually proves my point even more if they had this stuff before but just didn't tell anyone about it. If this whole thing is what finally kills Youtube, I won't be surprised in the least.
