It's not as if being a follower gets you smacked down with alerts on this site (unlike pretty well everything else, hehe), so I personally just see it as a polite little gesture of respect, either for the person and/or for their contributions to the forums. In your case, you've got the banter and you're bashing out beastly arts alla time, I'd be crazy if I didn't have a frequent gander at that!

There's no need for asking, since I'm pretty sure people have really good reasons to follow you, besides that we have to thank YOU for bringing so much to the community and being a really cool person. Follows are ( usually, sometimes it varies from person to person ) only a formal way of showing appreciation and that we like the person.
