First of all, reduce that color palette, you used 6 shades of gray for the metal parts which is alot. The sprite has about 10 colors which could be reduced alot. Look up some tutorials on shading and doing outlines if you still don't understand the concept

I honestly think the palette size is fine. Terraria usually has high colour counts - from a quick investigation the Clentaminator, Megashark and Sniper Rifle sprites all have 13. The Venus Magnum has 9, and the Cell Phone has 10.

the only advice i would give is with design- does a handheld cannon needa wheel?
