classes, such as Melee having Swords, Spears, Boomerangs, and Flails. Ranged can be separated into Bows&Repeaters (I view them as the same thing...), Guns, and Explosives. Magic is basically just separated into Magic Weapons, Spell Tomes, and (Sometimes, depends on opinion) Summoner Weapons. But within these sub-classes of weaponry, multiple other subclasses can be created.

With Melee, Swords can be separated into Broadswords and Shortswords (and even Beam-Weapons if you're that picky). With Ranged, there's the Guns, which can be separated into many, which are Pistols, Shotguns, Automatic (Minishark-like), and Snipers (Musket, Sniper Rifle).
