I think that's how it goes.

Does that not work with Imgur or smth, cause every time I try, it does this:

It only works for direct image link. Meaning, link to the image, not the webpage containing the image(s). You can't use the tag for a gallery.
For example, [img]https://i.imgur.com/1GB6Zle.jpg[/img] will give you:
