as much as people love to disagree with me, this is a good start for Steam to actually start policing their platform, and I hope they move on to the dozens of Unreal Asset flips next
Unreal, or Unity... usually one or the other. Like how many Unit-Z flips are there out there? But then if they did that, Jim Sterling might not have a job lol.
he'd still have a job because the "Triple AYYYYYYYYYYYY" studios are still pulling garbage moves like currently with Activision and Battle Royale Ops 4
another thing that people fail to address is that steam is also home to a buuuunch of poorly-made hentai VNs that are just as bad as Unreal Asset Flips and go as equally unregulated, thus drowning the market even more
i'm not kidding when I say that in the last few months, I've seen at least 3 ty anime visual novels a week
Yeah, it's usually the go-go to make a quick buck. Throw together a VN with some bad writing and generic looking anime porn and there you go. Minimal effort required.
the saddest part about this is that I'm pretty sure nothing will happen, because there's simply too many fans of the "genre" for Valve to simply ignore the amount of backlash it'll get
All said games need to do is update so that they meet the new guidelines that Steam will likely release and have Off-Steam "unlock" patches you download. That way, Steam's happy because the games still fit the guidelines, and the people can still sell their games. There will be a temporary hiccup where they gotta hurry up and patch the stuff out, though.
And I imagine it will be harder to sell the games because you don't have anime porn to show up front, and there'll be less to entice people to buy said games. But then again, if you make a game and you can't sell it without sex then chances are, it's a terrible game anyways.
Most likely they are going to put some kind of rating system that steam games have to fall under... and Fanart doesn't matter; the Dryad in-game is just a few pixels and there's really nothing you can get from that. Also, it might be more than just the sexual images of a game, Huniepop and the like, the *entire game*'s purpose is sex.
I don't think a game that features a scantily-clad girl or two is going to get the crap thrown at them, I mean, Final Fantasy XIV is on Steam and there are swimsuits in that game that are *very* revealing...
