If you're in Expert Mode, the Royal Gel makes Gastropods passive (since they are part of the slime family)
Aside from that gameplay wise, NPCs can still live in Hallow, it can't infect the Jungle, it actually protects the jungle from corruption/crimson if you have it in a good spot. There aren't a ton of negatives to having full Hallow aside from stronger enemies.
