"Put your ideas in a mod" doesn't make me feel any better; the base game will still be a huge chunk of swiss cheese, and it makes me extremely sad to see it turn out that way.

Yeah. People saying to "put it in a mod" really don't help because what about all the new players who won't get to experience mods in the first place? They'll always start out with the original terraria.
