  • I keep seeing posts about how NPC happiness was tweaked in the latest update, but I can't find any specifics. What exactly was changed?
Anyone got any advice on which mobility accessories to sacrifice to make way for different ones? I keep wanting to use class boosting accessories, but rely way too much on mobility.

Replace the balloon, its benefits don't justify an accessory slot (in hardmode) since wings are a direct upgrade. They might seem a good addition to Fin wings, but as you progress you'd hardly feel any extra benefits from them. Boots just depend on your playstyle... You could use a mount instead, but I never found it convenient except for certain situations.

See, if all the balloon offered was the double jump, negated fall damage, and increased jump height, I'd be comfortable with replacing it (since the only one not overwritten by wings is the double jump, which is negligible this late in the game), but it also provides +30% ascent speed, which allows you to ascend at a vertical momentum of 50 MPH (from 38).

I suppose wings that are of a higher tier might have faster ascent speeds that might warrant the replacement of the balloon with another item, but right now I've grown adjusted to it and it feels too slow without it. From what I understand from how wings work, the speed boost should just allow you to fly 30% higher, since it doesn't affect flight time.
Really wish there was more armour sets similar to the Crystal Assassin armour/more dual class armour sets in general so that non-class based playthroughs were more viable. You know, something that defends for a moderate amount and provides stat boosts, but not to the extent of specialised builds of their tier.
Okay so, anyone got any tips on how to dodge Dreadnautilus' contact attack?

Try not getting hit, that usually works for me

If you're playing on Expert/Master, you can use the Shield of Cthulhu to dash and avoid the first spin, but timing that is a bit difficult; What I usually do is try to tank the first hit and then remain stationary so that it keeps spinning without actually dealing contact damage.

Unfortunately I'm playing on Classic mode so the Shield of Cthulhu isn't an option; however, I've found that just tanking the first hit does actually work. It'll strike you the first time and then spin around you without making contact for the remainder of the attack. Apparently the best way to dodge attacks is to just... not try to?

Definitely saves on the effort of luring her up there if you're going for the challenge of killing her on the surface.

Queen Bee enrages on the surface?

I always fight her on the surface...

Guess I'm just so epic gamer that I don't even notice it
If I was going to name an item in this game that's literally useless, it'd probably be the hook. The normal Grappling Hook is so much harder to get than gem hooks due to the hook's rarity, and yet it has the least range of any grapple save for the Web Slinger, tied with the amethyst one.
At what point would you say that the hardmode ore swords overtake the Breaker Blade in terms of effectiveness? They do more damage starting from Palladium, but the damage boost against enemies above 90% health for the Breaker Blade is hard to ignore.

The Breaker Blade saves you from one extra swing. So it's really useful against weak but annoying enemies, like expert hardmode bats, to kill them in one hit. But you'll have to start fighting an enemy in close range to utilise it's efficiency, so ore swords are better for longer lasting DPS.
Is Frost Armour worth anything if you're not looking to dual class Melee/Ranger? It has the highest defense value for ranged characters before Chlorophyte, but I'm not sure the extra defense and the debuff are worth the stunted stat increases.

The only way I see value for the Frost Amor is when you’re going melee for the defense but you don’t want to use melee weapons against the mechanical bosses (why use light discs when you could use the megashark?)
So is there any particular reason why a portion of the blocks in this game just... don't tile with anything? I was excited to build with Coralstone Blocks, but they look out of place because they're don't blend with anything else (unless you're Smooth Marble, for some reason).
You know what I want? A mod that adds an alternate for the Hallow, without adding anything else. Considering we're obviously never getting an official one, it'd be nice since it's the only alternative that's missing.
Look guys, I know that Hallow can't spread through the Jungle, but if world gen wouldn't do this so that I could actually get one, that'd be fantastic.

If only that Crimson was a bit further into the Jungle. It would have been completely converted to Hallow.

That was kind of what I was hoping for when I was setting up quarantines. If they generated at the center of the world, I knew one of them would go through the Jungle, and I hoped it would be Hallow (for obvious reasons) so that the Crimson there would be converted. Unfortunately it spawn to the left of our spawn for some reason.
After opening well over 100 Obsidian Crates, I have obtained a grand total of zero Lava Charms. RNG drops are way too rooted in this game's design; it definitely detracts from its overall value.

Yeah, at that point it gets better to simply give yourself one using the builder's workshop.

It will become twice as common in 1.4.1, but I still think that's not enough.

Idk, 1 in 20 would definitely be a more tolerable chance considering as I was managing to fish up around 25 Obsidian Crates with 20 bait every time I went fishing. Obsidian Crates themselves aren't really that rare.

i'd rather not remember being trapped in a room and forced to drink radioactive waste or else I'd starve to death or the pain of having my head destroyed by a bomb collar, thanks
