At least I finished one sprite already, because it was mostly just a resprite, but the rest are gonna be a pain

my sprites were terrible at first. everyone always says this, but practice does really help

also look at other people's sprites for inspiration.

I'm just winging it, basically. The line tool is a good friend for making a sword.

Also, music is a good friend as well, and so is determination.

try concept art.first flesh out your sprite on paper and then on digital

well... kind of.you need to draw it so you don't forget.there have been lot's of cool concpets for stuff stashed away but now I forogt them becuase I didn't wirte them down.

I finished the sprite anyway, I made it a gif because of how many variations I made

Here's what I made, I think it turned out okay-ish. (Each of the different colors in the middle represent a different torch)

It's pretty good for a beginner. Here are some tips: Remember to save your files as a png, do not save as a jpeg, make sprites in a 32 by 32 canvas and then upscale it by 200%, and finally look up some references for shading and light/shadow. Using those will make your sprites look a lot better.
