Then again, my mouse isn't helping either (that thing is like 8 years old), it's so unstable.

I'm just winging it, basically. The line tool is a good friend for making a sword.

well... kind of.you need to draw it so you don't forget.there have been lot's of cool concpets for stuff stashed away but now I forogt them becuase I didn't wirte them down.

I finished the sprite anyway, I made it a gif because of how many variations I made

It's pretty good for a beginner. Here are some tips: Remember to save your files as a png, do not save as a jpeg, make sprites in a 32 by 32 canvas and then upscale it by 200%, and finally look up some references for shading and light/shadow. Using those will make your sprites look a lot better.
