  • Just saw @Fury 's latest Video featuring them, @Khaios and a couple others. It answers a question I left on Red's profile a while ago: What happens when different people in Journey mode have different settings? Apparently with mob spawns, it's individual! I thought that would have been global. Curious what happens when one of them adjusts difficulty? Does it change globally?

Yeah, difficulty changes globally. The powers that are individual to each player are in their own "personal power" submenu consisting of godmode, higher placement reach and the spawnrate slider.
Can anyone explain to me why you obtain Hellish Fire potted plants earlier than Regular Surface potted plants? Also why is the hanging pot not craft-able? Why do you only get something so benignly purely decorative from obsidian crates?
TIL You have to create an artificial alternate evil biome to finish the Bestiary. RIP me, shoulda' made a large world.

Or used the easter egg seed, because apparently the game was tested on that or something, IDK.

Does anone know what happens when you defeat the WoF on the easter egg seed? The release date one? Are 2 evil strips made or just one?

    Just one.
Wow, Leviathan just killed master mode. I really felt like something was off with it, and their perspective really makes it clear. CrabBar's comment is quite poignant, as well.

I'm not going to lie. I abhor the Calamity mod and every copycat that adds suggestive boss and pet sprites and uber difficulty mode because I believe the Terraria experience is fully capable of functioning and being engaging to a wide and diverse audience without either of those two things. But what I can NOT criticize the Calamity mod for, is being low-quality. It is clear that a lot of thought went into it.

When an afterthought Easter Egg seed provides a more engaging difficulty than an entire difficulty mode, you know you have a problem.
When common enemies are a bigger hindrance to progression than the bosses, you know you have a problem.
Unpopular Opinion: Journey Mode is the Intended way of playing the game. The other difficulties are purely Decorative.

It's officialized and that makes it feel right!

I find it difficult to think endless money and ammo really is intentional. Ranged makes it far superior over melee and magic.

I really like Journey mode for when I build during a playthrough. I can just research blocks or furniture and have an arsenal of them usable at any time, and it saves inventory space too!
Does anyone else find the New Underground Desert and Dungeon Generation - Not even difficult - Not even Challenging, for that matter - but absolutely INFURIATING!?? Like, I get it, Red likes traps. But when the traps are so numerous so as to be unavoidable, then a line has been crossed from difficult into Unreasonable and Artificial.

    The dungeon is artificial though

No, Artificial as in Artificial Difficulty, that thing in Video Game Design they tell you to avoid.

    Ye they are annoying
Torch Luck MUST be more transparent, FFS.

Good thing I haven't explored the Ice biome yet, but the underground desert is a lost cause.

Just spent an hour replacing normal torches with corrupt torches, though.

Just saw the Update Notes. It isn't even that Torch Luck is a bad mechanic. The problem with Torch luck was that WE DON'T KNOW IT IS HAPPENING WITHOUT CHECKING THE WIKI.
I remember Cenx or someone posting a while back that there would be an incentive to use the right torch.

    Flor3nce2456
I assumed it would be in the form of a buff or something. When I didn't see a buff in-game, I assumed it meant the mechanic Cenx mentioned was on the cutting room floor. Nope. It was just invisible.

So while I'm fine with it being removed, especially since I really do not feel like going back to the hell that is the underground desert and replacing every goddamn torch in there with desert Torches, all the grief Redigit got for it could have been wholly and totally avoided if they were just up front, transparent, and honest about it.
TIL there are FOUR Terraria r34 Porn subreddits... FFS...

How do they even have enough names for all of them?

Porn, After Dark, Gone Wild, Rule 34. That's how.

Forgot at least two of those being ways to convey a subreddit being for porn.
TIL there is an entire subreddit dedicated to Terraria Porn.

The r34 Porn sense? I'm not sure I understand the question.

Thought so, but I asked because sometimes the word porn isn't about that kind, and instead just like really good something. Ex.: r/foodporn isn't actually about intercourse with food, but just really good looking food.
I'm finding myself more and more disliking the Calamity Mod everyday, and resenting everything it stands for and symbolizes. Not fully sure why.
@ChippyGaming 's most recent video (as of this writing, titled "What is Journey Mode") mentioned that 1.4 will feature official texture pack support: and as excited as I am, I am wondering where that was mentioned and what the source is, because I do not recall ever hearing about it.

Just the other day I posted on Cenx's profile asking about it. Anyone else ever hear about this? There are several blocks and furniture in the game I don't ever use for anything, so this sounds great.
Underground City? Sci-Fi Mining Complex? Cyberpunk City? Trying to think of things I haven't ever built before.

Something similar to the underground City of Tears from Hollow Knight seems like it would be a fun project.
    Pre-Hardmode:
Stranger from a Strange Land -> Immigrant -> Weird Neighbor

    Hardmode:
Good Neighbor -> Acquaintance -> Old Friend -> Hot Date -> Proposal

    Post-Moonlord:
    Mates -> Lovebirds
