Has Journey's End shifted Terraria too far into removing player freedom?

Since unhappiness from the overcrowding stacks per every NPC in radius, pretty sure it is possible to reach without trying to.

Game Mechanics All ores in one world

The fact that only one type of ore is generated is fine, IMO, because otherwise crafting set of ore gear will be even more hard than it is now, (and with how bad it is, make it less worthwhile). My issue with alternate ores, is that Platinum and Tungsten are just too much better than Gold and...

PC Mushroom biome town and enemy spawn rates

You need to have 3 or more for it to qualify as town, but you still can have enemies spawn outside it and enter if you yourself go outside for a bit and return. Especially annoying with enemies that go through walls. Either that or some mobs aren't blocked from spawning by the town which is...

PC Mushroom biome town and enemy spawn rates

Town is defined by amount of NPCs specifically, not the places where their houses are. Is it possible that some got killed by mobs being leashed from outside town range or something and rest werent enough to prevent spawning anymore?

Game Mechanics The Problem With NPC Happiness

You can already place them down wherever. Just that attempting to use them without fulfilling all conditions will fail.

Resolved Some items cannot be duplicated in Journey mode after researching

Some items are uncategorized and only ever appear even in search when you specifically deselect any sorting categories.

Has Journey's End shifted Terraria too far into removing player freedom?

And here we go back to issue: Jungle cant be repaired via clentamination. Jungle damage is permanent. Because evil biomes turn mud into dirt and no mode of clentamination reverses it.

Has Journey's End shifted Terraria too far into removing player freedom?

To add to that, I consider quarantine shafts themselves to be even more of a world ruiner than the jungle getting permanently damaged. However practical they are, they plain look ugly and shouldn't be a necessety regardless of how easy they are to make.

Has Journey's End shifted Terraria too far into removing player freedom?

Same thing as now. It still was worst part of progression then, it remained when crates became a thing and it is still now. Crates were just a way to skip it without trudging through. Quarantine is very time consuming and entirely pointless when V comes in. Players shouldn't be required to...

Game Mechanics The Problem With NPC Happiness

If you don't participate in a mechanic, you don't get its rewards. If you don't like fishing, you don't get any crates, any quest rewards or any fish-requiring potions. If you don't like fighting a specific skippable boss, you don't get its loot. And if you don't want to bother with NPC...

Game Mechanics The Problem With NPC Happiness

So any new feature added that has some form of limitation on how you can use it is a limit to player creativity? That is extremely faulty logic. Pylons are reward for spreading your NPCs out and they help compensate for the said fact of them being spread out by removing travel time.

Has Journey's End shifted Terraria too far into removing player freedom?

Artificially prolonging time you have to spend in early hardmode, which I, and probably many others, consider to be the worst part of the progression was definitely not the right step. Especially since there are still big issues with spending too much time in early hardmode destroying your...

    Weapons & Equip Clentaminator QoL

Bigger issue is inability to restore jungle after evil biomes screws it over than other solutions ruining it, IMO. Plus, I believe green solution currently doesnt convert mud to dirt (only blue, red and purple do), but if darkgreen was to be implemented, it would make sense for green to.

    Weapons & Equip Clentaminator QoL

IMO, it would be too complex especially with biomes like snow and sand, which dont have 'proper' equivalents with every other biome. Which is why just Darkgreen is only new one I'm suggesting since it is equivalent with way evil biomes spread.

Journey's End 1.4.4: Balance Feedback and Discussion Thread

Imo, throwing should remain ranged damage... But also be influenced by specific armors, like fossil, independantly of ranged. That would make throwables perfectly viable for rangers and not remove the uniqueness of armors. Just have it be a damage sub-type of sorts, that gets buffs from...

    Weapons & Equip Clentaminator QoL

Clentaminator, at one point, used to be an endgame tool with tons of utility for restoring your world to former glory after hardmode spread speed. However, with how critical jungle is and how unrestorable it is, and with how devs show interest in making one world's evil available in other...

Game Mechanics The Problem With NPC Happiness

IMO, biggest issue is overcrowding being too easy to achieve. Most NPCs should have much looser overcrowding restrictions than now and some should have none at all (while a few could keep current numbers). That would allow much more wiggle room while still making the hotelblocks type builds...

Resolved Why is this NPC house not valid?

The platforms count as walls AND doors for purpose of housing, so its technically two different rooms on screenshot, one with just light and other with everything but light.

Well, thats what makes them different from vending machines, isn't it? Which is a good step in right direction.

Game Mechanics The Problem With NPC Happiness

I think NPCs needed a mechanic to be something more than just walking vending machines for a while now. And this is good thing. Honestly, only bad aspect of it I think is that overcrowding 'limits' are somewhat too small and global for all NPCs, while they probably should be more tailored...
