Indeed the build had some errors, so many images are missing from 0.16. I'm adding error checking to the build now so i will know in the future if something breaks :) A fixed release should be out tomorrow.

Yes it should. Texture packs in general are future compatible. New textures will be missing from the texture pack, but new Terraria versions should work with older texture packs without issues.

I use wine to execute my tool on my macbook. Not the most convenient but it works.

I tested a few models from this page and none of them handled transparency. Also the scale factor is 4 for almost all models, so i don't think this is going to work. Not to mention that it was terribly slow because i'm on a macbook (no gpu support).

I think your game files look correct, the problem might be that you have installed a texture pack. Try cleaning your ResourcePacks folder for example, it should be Documents\My Games\Terraria\ResourcePacks on Windows.

If you can find out which image file contains this texture then i can try to look into it.
