How about adding mine cart cart that attaches to your mine cart that acts like storage chest. That way you can have an extra mobile storage to haul around underground (and surface).

Have you tried the Static hook, super useful- especially fight mobs, you adjust height above the mobs and just sit there and kill them. Also great for building - adjustably height/distance. Sold by steampunker
