Communicants of the Creatioux Engine

Welcome to Communicants of the Creatioux Engine, a Sci-Fi RP(moderately)-lite where I promise that only the faintest trickles of sweat will be present. We're talking pretty quick-fire applications (no backstories required, as in truth, I don't think I'm alone in thinking them a bit of a chore). A mix of casual university living, and dealing with shadowy dangers that span the Kyrigos System of planets (your home), perhaps further: most importantly, there'll be far more than your RDA of over-sized robot fighting.

If that sounds interesting, read on (or just click 'join' if you're a complete rebel)... to an admittedly rather lengthy chunk of story, but that's about all you're going to need, apart from a few diddy stat-based things (I promise that there'll DEFINITELY be no Maths that even someone as deficient as @eaterofeaterofworlds would struggle to solve... because as everyone who's not in The Island knows, the only reason we're not is because Math Is Hard :c).

Millions of years ago, an enigmatic collaboration of the universe's greatest minds spawned the Creatioux Engine. A mad thing with a purpose we can now never know, it grew to the size as to consume and replace the mantle and core of an entire planet. And as it neared completion, even the Engine's own creators began to doubt their wisdom - in cringing awe of what the Engine might accomplish. Fear spread like wildfire amongst them, they tried to siphon the machine's stolen power back into the star systems around, before the machine could come to life.

Until an insurgent organisation known as the Hand of God had other ideas.

They stormed the Creatioux Engine's core and attacked it; the Engine imploded in a blaze of energy that annihilated and pulled into the void a thousand thousand galaxies; more people than we even have a word for torn from existence in a moment. The only thing to survive in any capacity was the Engine itself, as its shards spread out and drifted towards the still-living and blissfully unaware peoples of the places left.

You grew up on one of the planets of the Kyrigos System, for a very long time a backward and insular place, each planet concerned only with the squabbles of its own. 95 years ago, the first Creatioux Shards began to touch down on planetary soil - at first sparingly (the squabbles over the first were not pretty), but now so commonly as to allow every man, woman and child to be granted their own.

The Shards held the power to recognise the true aspirations of their bearer, and seemingly no matter how outlandish, uncover and massage hidden potentials within to grant those desires. This catapulted most areas of technology forward a dozen millenia or more: those that had dreamed of owning the freedom of the stars were enlightened, they built their spacecraft and flew freely from planet to planet. Those that had dreamed of curing deadly illness synthesised the remedies to do so. Even dreams as simple as wanting to be a bloody great cook were granted, recipes to conserve food while still filling the belly and making the tastebuds dance came into being.

It was a new age of enlightenment, but that does not necessarily equal a new age of peace.

Many were surprised when it transpired that the true aspirations of only very, very few tended towards combat.

You are one of them.

Whether you have always known this, whether battle has been in your blood... or even if you are surprised, horrified by the nature of your shard-bond, it has not gone unnoticed. This is your destiny, and destiny cannot be resisted for long!

But before you can fight, you must learn. For that, there can be only one place. Decadere University [DCDU] of Loreon*. An institution controversial, it harbours no political or even moral agendas. It exists only but to accept all those, but only those of sufficient potential: spit out people with the means to enforce their will, whatever that may be. Here will be the place that you find your combat exo-suit and learn to use this unwieldy but extremely destructive piece of weaponry; in time the shard will morph even this in your own image.

If you make it through your education, that is.

"Not saying you don't know how to handle a gun... just that 'some of us' know how to make it dance." - Garrus Vakarian

*The pin badge up at the top is actually Decadere University's emblem. Because who said prestigious, possibly-dangerous combat universities can't be stylish too?
