PC [1.4.0.4] Unable to Connect to Multiplayer Servers

Hello!

As of this update, my friends have been unable to join my multiplayer server. My friend and I have been attempting to make this work for the past few hours with no luck.

A few things to keep in mind before replying with suggestions:

• We are both on version 1.4.0.4 with fully updated Steam launchers.
• We both have checked our firewalls, which are currently allowing Terraria through.
• We both have fairly stable internet connections, and have been able to play together on version 1.4.0.3
• We both have force terminated Steam via Task Manager to attempt to fix anything.
• We both have verified the integrity of the files. This ends up in a bug, listed at the bottom of this post.

The methods we have tried in order to get the server to work are listed below.

Through the "Host & Play" function:

• joining the server directly through a Steam invite with Terraria closed
• joining the server directly through a Steam invite with Terraria opened
• joining the server through the "Multiplayer" function via Terraria

Through the direct server executable (found in the local files of Terraria):

• joining the server directly through a Steam invite with Terraria closed
• joining the server directly through a Steam invite with Terraria opened
• joining the server through the "Multiplayer" function via Terraria

We have attempted these six methods multiple times over with roughly the same few outcomes. They are as follows:

• friend remains stuck on "Connecting to <steam name>..."
• friend remains stuck on "Joining <steam name>..."

Miscellaneous bugs that were located in this process:

• option to "Join Game" or "Invite to Game" isn't shown, even when the server is set to "Friends" [occasionally this bug is fixed via restarting steam/terminating it via task manager]
• verifiying file integrity on Steam locates 1 file that needs to be fixed, but this appears to do nothing/the file is never fixed to begin with.

If anyone has any temporary fix ideas, please let me know asap. I miss playing with my friends!

Hi, I'm having the same problem. I was playing with 3 friends when one of them fell, he was unable to reconnect, so I went to reopen the world to see if he could make it back. Then the message of starting server was loading forever. After that I tried to open the world in the single player, but the following message came: "Load Failed! No Backup", despite the world and backup files being in the folder C: \ Users \ User \ Documents \ My Games \ Terraria \ Worlds.
