PC [1.4.1.1] My keyboard lights go dead when I launch the game.

Terrarian
I have a Corsair K55 RGB keyboard. When I have the SDK enabled in Corsair's iCue software, launching Terraria 1.4.1.1 causes my keyboards lights to go out. The lights do not come back on until I close the game.

Did the keyboard lighting work before 1.4.1? Some error handling was added so the lights were disabled instead of Terraria crashing. It could be a symptom of another underlying problem.

No, this has been an issue since 1.4. I just brought it up again now because I thought it would have been fixed with 1.4.1, but it wasn't.

Sounds like Terraria can't make use of keyboard lighting. I don't have such a keyboard, so I won't be able to assist further, sorry. Hopefully someone else will able to help!

Same keyboard here and using a Corsair Harpoon mouse. The mouse actually works as intended but the keyboard just dies if the Corsair SDK is enabled. Other apps that use said SDK works fine too. An example is Wallpaper Engine.
Corsair software version is 3.34.161
It would be cool if we could turn it off inside the game tho.

Hello there!

So today I discovered this bug, and I was able to fix it.

Something is broken with the library that Relogic is using to sync the in game lightning with iCue. What you need to do is get the latest dll file from Corsair CUE SDK repository (Github), and manually update it yourself.

  1. Download the latest zip file from the official Corsair CUE SDK (<--- click here);

2. Use your preferred ZIP program (7Zip, Winrar, etc) to open the file and go through its directories until you find the similar library, (dll file), that Relogic is using, it should be CUESDK>redist>i386 and extract the file named "CUESDK_2015.dll" to your Desktop;

3. Go to the directory where you installed Terraria (if you installed through Steam it's probably in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Terraria"), change the name of the current library (dll file) to "old_CUESDK_2015.dll" or something like that (or just delete it lol), just in case if anything bad happens you can reverse and use the old file , and move the latest library (dll file) that you extracted to the Desktop into the folder;

And that's it, if it doesn't work try to download the same version that is shown in the image.

Have fun!

That fixed it! It works! Thank you so much for figuring this out! Genius!

No problem, have a great day!

Not sure what exactly is going on here, but I'm relaying the info to Yoraiz0r to look into fixing this library file. Thanks for the info!

An additional note from Yorai:

While this will not allow the Terraria RGB support to properly function until we've fixed it, you can manually disable RGB settings on a per-brand basis in the Config files:

For example, setting this to false:
"UseCorsairRGB": true,

Will allow you to maintain normal Corsair RGB settings in game, though not seeing Terraria specific colors.

Thanks so much! I just built my Pc and thought there was something wrong with it because the RGB wasn't working in terraria.

So I tried this, but my iCue is still not working at all. To make sure I got this 100% right;

Downloaded what you said, took the old CUESDK_2015.dll and renamed it, put the "new" one in (CUESDK_2015.dll from the zip) and retried the game. This didn't change my keyboard to whatever is supposed to happen in game. (World was raining which I've had my friend say should change my keyboard to match).

I have the K100 RGB keyboard, iCue is installed and updated to the most recent version (v3.37.140).

I'm also experiencing the same problem, I just built a new machine and all of my Corsair RGB devices go dead when I launch the game.

Hey Guys

I just tried fixing the bug without that update version…
You can just ban the client in corsair icue and it will work again.
