Terrarian
I've had 1.4.2 and played it since the update with no problem but I tried to play today and it gave me this error.

I'm having the exact same problem. I've attached a pic just in case.
But, yeah exact same problem, yesterday it worked fine (on 1.4.2.1) I've since then only shut down and a day later turned on my computer, haven't installed or changed anything, but Terraria now just crashes with this error msg (still 1.4.2.1). I hope there will be a fix for this soon.

Intriguing.
I do know that approximately half of the time I attempt to start terraria from Steam result in the steam dialog "preparing to launch Terraria ... " which then disappears, and then nothing happened -- in fact I can't even find Terraria.exe in the task manager.
But there was no warning window or a thing -- it just goes as if I did not click the "start game" button at all.
Maybe I shuold give you the log the next time it happens. Tell me which and where to look for it.

So I just figured out the problem on my end. It turns out, I needed to have my mic or earbuds connected to my pc audio port and that allowed me to play Terraria like normal.

After hours of troubleshooting and trying to fix the game, nothing was working. I just kept opening Terraria periodically in hopes that it would work. Hours later, it did work and I thought it was a fluke. While in the game, I decided to unplug my earbud from the audio port and the game immediately crashed. To test out my theory, I tried running terraria without my earbud plugged into the audio port and it gave me the same error code. However when trying to run with it plugged in, it open and ran fine.

TLDR: Just have your audio device physically plugged into the audio port. Hope this helps!

I have exactly the same problem, and the solution to connect headphones doesn't work for me, I don't know what to do, I've tried everything, I install and reinstall the xna framework, just like the .net framework and none of it works for me

nothing work for me, someone found a solution?

Have you found a solution? I played great yesterday, and today I ran into this problem, I tried absolutely all the ways, none of them helped.
