1.4.4 Discovery/Content Discussion Thread

I guess it's possible to make a building you can't destroy.

There should just be some way to flag an item when it has been bought from an NPC to make it impossible to shimmer. Way too many things are getting hotfixed away.
There have been several ways to place and troll with high mining tier blocks including lihzahrd brick for a very long time. Most are easier than this one. The previous solution when this with the dungeon was to make the blocks minable when on the surface or near the middle 1/3rd of the map. I believe they forgot this solution existed and did an angry kneejerk reaction, which is how I would describe most of the hotfix methods, and I got talked down to for suggesting that workarounds are better than disabling or hard nerfing. If you flagged purchase items to be unshimmerable, it would also break my map, so plz no. I say just get the prices right. Heck, the merchant could have been swapped to selling better tools so that it's a viable purchase rather than only an "oops I dropped my pick in lava, better go buy a copper one" situation.
I highly suspect they did not intend with shimmer to be able to do artificial biome creation from nothing, but only to like convert existing things from what seems to be hotfixes.
Seems like they want to leave all this artificial biome creation to be post Moon-Lord with solutions that are able to spread biomes.
Apparently you can convert Stone blocks to Ice with White solution and to Sandstone with Yellow Solution. That leaves hardened sand blocks. Maybe they want to remove them from game who knows :D They have very little use, but I doubt it as they are still nice looking. Who knows... (Edit: Actually dirt wall is replaced by unsafe hardened sand wall)
It was already quite possible to generate biomes from nothing, and why not? If they don't like it, it should be very difficult and late, not impossible. Compromise and challenge instead of pure denial is what I'd like to preach to ReLogic here. 1.4.4 made it possible to generate jungle and mushroom from nothing at all. Snow can come from nothing. Without yellow solution or shimmer, desert only needs 26 sandstone/hardened sand and you can make an underground desert mob farm... Heck, just having ~4 sandstone and a single block of regular sand can get you infinite sand. Antlion eggs grow like plants on sandstone.
They nerfed the Summoner whip meta into oblivion ;(

Obsidian armour lost 20% whip range bonus and 40% whips speed bonus, making it's dps redundant past pre hm and making it's closest competitor bee armour with minion dps being a competitor for high and constant dps in pre-hm. With this loss of whip speed and range, setups prioritising the exploitation of whip bonuses such as the sanguine + firecracker or snapthorn setups no longer as efficient or reliable.

The blade staff meta that was also a large part of the whip meta (insane dps) is now just, bad.

Blade staff lost 15% of its summon tag stack damage, which makes it a sanguine staff with worse dmg plus range, and with the lower amount of damage, it wont be able to quickly fend off hoards of enemies life it was once able to, as the stunlocked enemies wont die and then more will arrive

Stinky update 0/10
I do agree with them that obsidian was put in too strange of a position. They gave those bonuses to a later game armor (forgot which), so that shouldn't be too bad for you. I do agree that the blade staff nerf is a bit heavy and throws shade the idea of rewarding knowledge and effort. On that note.... for the amount of effort they insist on requiring to get the terraprisma, they really don't make it that OP. Calamity Mod agrees with me. They just turned it into a regular old night time fight drop and removed all value from the day fight... and I'm not even mad.

This would break the remix seed.

Semantics. :naughty: In the case of the Remix seed, it would probably be upper cavern, and middle third. Well... just middle third might do the job fine.

Meanwhile, pretty much the entire rest of summoner was buffed so you can actually use more than half the minion staves in the game now without meming, and made Tiki Armor viable. Imo worthy trade compared to the absolute overcentralized meta we had before for summoner gear.

Also blade staff wasn’t nerfed. It was indirectly buffed by cool whip getting a tag and whip stacking exists so… it broke even imo. Far cry from sanguine which had its dps effectively HALVED on large targets due to a bugfix (though completely untouched on mobbing)

I actually enjoy how deadly sphere and optic staff and raven staff and tempest staff are viable now.

I don't think you need ash blocks at all in 1.4.4, even with ash wood trees.
There are many items that use "any wood" as a crafting ingredient, allowing you to get ash wood.
At least two potions can be found in crates and can also be crafted with fireblossom.
As for the fruits, throw fruit juice or fruit salad into the shimmer (only critter-based food items don't work in the shimmer).
Ash grass seeds are sold by the Dryad in the Underworld, but those aren't necessary because of the above.

Fun fact about Aetherium: The color shifting glow is the same type of glow as Rainbow Bricks. I could only tell because I accidentally used Shadow Paint on it. The glowing from the cracks made me paint the rest on purpose.

Need? Technically no outside of the "Don't Dig Up" seed, but it's awesome with Brown Paint for builders. It's a wood that's perfect for horizontal beams, the fence looks like naturaly grown wood or vines, and I love how the furniture looks like it's supported by roots. Ash Grass can only be grown on Ash, so you'll need it for Ash Grass, which is also technically not needed but very nice for builders.

Can't argue about the fruits other than by saing a new tree needed new fruit, but just think about making Fruit Juice from Peppers! Bonus points if you trick a roleplayer into drinking it. >:D

Anyone know where to find Glow Tulip, I am losing my mind. I have scoured multiple worlds.

Generates at the edge of the world, underground. Detected by the Metal Detector and its tinkers.

Still no luck. The search continues though.

Many times I thought it was aetherium when searching for the aether

I'm not sure what factor I am missing that you have encountered it many times yet I have been hunting for hours and not found one! There must be some kind of flag I have to clear in my world.

I actually only encountered it twice, on the very edge of the world underground

any more shimmer exploits around before relogic inevitably releases the next patch?

there is a new sword

Why no clentaminator in Remix worlds? I cannot think of the reason as to why they would remove the ability to get it. Just adds the hassle of getting it from a separate world.

I agree it's stupid, but the answer to your question is: so that the surface can't be easily converted from being a corrupt hellscape.

At first I expected it to be obtainable elsewhere. Like how they swapped how you obtain the aqua scepter and bubble gun. I was hoping the clentaminator would be dropped or obtained somewhere later in progress. Like from Empress of Light or The Cultist. But having it not available at all is just so odd to me. I agree that the surface should not be easily fixed early in to hardmode. But in the current circumstances there is no fighting back against the world evil that seeps from the surface all the way down. (And from the sides)

i has a theory that the remix world is meant to resemble the lore of otherworld
whereby the world is a corrupt hellscape and theres nothing youre meant to do to stop it

Anyone have any idea what on earth "Glow Tulips can be generated in an area, with its horizonal range being 200 tiles at 100 tiles away from left and right borders of the world" on the wiki means? Particularly "200 tiles at 100 tiles away". Does this mean the way Glow Tulips are coded to generate they can appear off the edge of the map?

It may be better to think of it in simpler terms than the Wiki put it. Knowing it grows on the edge of the world, underneath the Ocean would make more sense (to me at least). I would assume there's some coding to avoid spawning off the edge of the map but not being a Re-Logic programmer, I can't say for sure. 2 generate in small worlds, 4 in medium and 6 in large.
