Skeletron should be saved after hardmode because I don't see that much usefulness in the dungeon besides the water bolt. Also he killed me with that charge when he was at 300 health.

Immunity to knockback can be useful but without it can save you by knocking you away from danger. Or knocks you off a cliff. Depends on situation.

Well I know that the star cannon is good usually with 500 stars but with a harder situation I'd say... 50000 STARS!!! Lol -Edit- the bee gun is good to that's how me and my friend killed WoF awhile ago but not on the hard core mode thing and a lot of bee bombs, man it seems no one likes bees lol

Long platform in underworld to run across, preferably the entire world. Long range weapons to keep a fair distance, piercing weapons are very powerful so water bolt. AOE weapons deal with the hungries. Imp staff for the summon for extra dps, spectre boots for speed.

No, there is armor but that depends on if you want damage or defence. Buff Potions differ between play styles. 30 Health potions would be good, and a few others but I can't think of it.

The gravitation potion is good if you run out of platform, I've done that before haha
