Humorous 1000 Fun Facts

2043: In 1866, during the Austro-Prussian war, Liechtenstein's army of 80 people was sent to guard an Italian mountain pass. Due to the pass not being attacked, all 80 people survived, and even befriended an Austrian who they brought back to Liechtenstein. Liechtenstein later disbanded their army and declared permanent neutrality, meaning that they have a total of -1 casualties in war, the lowest of any country in the world.

2042: Operation Cottage was a manoeuvre on Kiska Island in 1943, during World War II. Both USA and Canadian forces arrived on opposite sides of the island, which had been occupied by Japan since 1942. Both expecting to encounter resistance from Japanese forces, the USA and Canadian forces briefly fired upon each other, resulting in 32 dead and 50 wounded before they realised their mistake. About 140 more deaths and 300 more wounded were caused by Japanese landmines and other traps, one of which severely damaged a USA destroyer. Japan, however, had evacuated the island two weeks prior, meaning that they won a battle they never attended.

Fact 2046: Bowser's voices in Super Mario 64 were taken from stock Warner Brothers sound effects, including his laugh. By sheer coincidence, said laugh was originally done by Charles Martinet.

Fun Fact 2048: Contrary to popular belief, the War of the Bucket, fought between the city states Modena and Bologna in 1325, did not start over Bologna's bucket. The city states had fought due to a power struggle between the Holy Roman Emperor and the Pope. The bucket was stolen by Modenese troops as a trophy, and was stored in Torre della Ghirlandina. The bucket is still kept there to this day.

Fact 2050: Houses in Amsterdam were built with hooks for moving furniture, instead of carrying them down the narrow stairs. The houses were also built tilting forward for this reason.

So it's the actual amount of facts, let's start at Fact 1230: The cockatiel (a bird)

(a rodent) and the cockatiel are about the same size. Usually, the cockatiel's face is yellow, and electricity can be yellow. Pikas are also a yellowish color.

418. Tiger Day is the last Sunday in September.
419. There is no visual difference between male and female herons.
419 is the same with all parrots except budgerigars and eclecti, too (male budgerigars' noses/ceres are blue or purple, and females have pink or brown ceres. A male eclectus is green and a female eclectus is red and blue).
457. "Rhythm" is the longest English word without a vowel
Y is a vowel.
Also 1231: Terraria was released on May 16.

Intermission; your regularly-scheduled facts will resume shortly:

This is likely not the correct number of facts, as it is based on the number of messages in this thread. Due to the existence of messages without a counted fact (such as this one), as well as messages with multiple facts, the real number of facts is likely not 1232 as of this message, although it probably isn't too far off. To know for certain, you'd have to go ahead and count all of them individually. However, if you were to not count the untrue, tautological, or excessively self-referential facts (i.e. "this is a fact"), the actual number would be even lower. But then, that starts a whole new debate over who can be the judge of this supposed quality standard for facts. So, taking all of that into consideration, it is practically impossible to declare one particular number as the "correct" number of facts. With that in mind, I'm going to keep counting down in hopes that it may one day catch on enough for us to reach 0 facts, at which point there are no more facts and we don't have to think about anything I mentioned here anymore.

Fact 1230?
Charles II of Spain was so deformed from inbreeding that he developed multiple digestive problems, and doctors expected him to die young, yet he kept living to the age of 38.
