3DS 3DS KNOWN ISSUES

Those crashes ruin the game ... It's a great game, I love it. But I paid 20€ for it on my 3DS and I am disappointed that it takes them so long to figure it out. They're the developers, and they should be working 24/7 to fix such a massive problem. I don't get it why it takes them several days/weeks to fix it.

Also, how is stylist not in the game? I know that dyes/paint would have to multiply a ton of items in the game bc 3DS has pretty s:redspin:t hardware, but the stylist only changes hairstyle/colors and has dye for hair, not armor/vanity. Even if the dyes would slow the game down to internet explorer level speed, just add it without hair dye and make it only change hair style/color

The 3DS is not like the PC version. On there, they can push for a hotfix right away if they had to. On the 3DS version, 505 has to submit their update to Nintendo, wait for them to approve (AKA make sure nothing goes fatally wrong, which is what happened with 1.02 in America), and when they do they'll then send the update out. Since it goes through a much longer process, the dev team wants to spend more time making sure they fix everything they see before launching a patch. 1.03 was different; they found such a huge issue with multiplayer in 1.02 that they didn't bother to fix anything else until they had the update out there.

I'm sick of it anyway...

Okay but wouldn't they have to go through exactly the same with Steam? I mean Steam is what's offering the downloads. The developers would have to do the same thing with Steam as with Nintendo right ? Because they both are not the makers but just the ones who offer it and have to guarantee quality management.

No, Steam works differently. Publishers/developers can push out multiple updates a day if they wish. Valve does no QA of their own for their catalog, that's all up to the developers and publishers. Only in cases where there is abuse of the system would Valve get involved.

For this particular crashing issue - apparently it's very hard to recreate the problem reliably, and it's not happening to everyone. Those kinds of issues are extremely difficult to pin down and fix.

^That is indeed the question. One that they are trying to figure out in order to solve whatever it is that causes said issues.

This is in response to someone who was saying the bug to be related to memory and hardware. Don't know why it quoted the wrong post.

Not true at all. Gf and I got same o3ds xl to play this game for a trip to Europe coming on September. We both play on ps4, but can't bring it with us. We have exactly the same hw, same firmware 11.0.33U, and only terraria installed. And still, her crashes every 5 minutes or so without any apparent reason in game. Mine crashes once every day. She tried creating new worlds, new players, but still crashes. We are really frustrated since we got the 3ds just for playing this game.

This certainly is a software issue. I wonder if developers get some trace back report of the crashes, it would be useful to find the bug in the code.

@Deanzor could 3DS handle accessory vanity?

Also found a bug: Using Golden Shower on Wyvern doesn't inflict Ichor (I think it does, but doesn't make segments turn Yellow)

The challenge with doing Vanity accessories on 3DS is the UI. We have established a minimum size on 3ds to be able to finger touch items, and with Vanity accessories you'd need more slots on one screen than we have room for.

Just chiming in. You may have a minimum size, and no room for more slots on one screen, but couldn't you work something out where you could scroll down on the equip screen like on the inventory screen? You'd be able to put more slots in that way possibly, unless there is something else that would void that idea.

Some questions.

1. How far will the 3DS version go?
2. Is the 3DS version 1.2 with some 1.2.4 and (one or two) 1.3 features
3. Is 3DS considered current gen in anyway?

1. As far as the devs am an make updates without the game being unplayable. My hope is Moonlord, but that would probably only be N3ds and the game would probably run at 30fps unlike the 60 on the n3ds

2. The 3DS version is a mixed 1.2.4-1.3 version, with features added and missing froM both

3. As a console, I would consider the 3ds not current gen, but the n3ds an end of life current gen. Supposably the NX will replace the WiiU and 3DS's and it comes out next year.

I'm not saying it's unsolvable, but means a chunk of dev time. If we could have got it done quickly, we would. But since that's a load of bespoke new ui just for that screen, it lower priority that other things that will give us more value for spending the same amount of time. So for 1.04 don't expect to see this, expect something better ;)

Any hints on what we'll see? ;)

The total results I got about the crashes from the poll I made elsewhere on this forum website and based on reddit comments I got:

Single Player results

Never crashes: 16
Only crashed once / couple of times in total: 14
Crashes once a week: 2
Crashes once or twice a day: 4
Crashes every session / every hour or two: 8
Unplayable / crashes around every 30 minutes or less: 6

Not many people talked about multiplayer, but a couple of people said the game didn't crash at all...?

People didn't talk much about which consoles they used either. 2 people said the game never crashed on the original 3ds. 2 said they never crashed on the new 3ds. 2 said it crashes once a week on new 3ds. And 3 said the game is unplayable on the new 3ds.

Results are rather mixed it seems. But we could tell that anyway from people's comments on this partially thread.

Yeah, but i dont think so many of the few people who play terraria on 3ds (n3ds) are here in the Forum...
A mate started it Fr and we played mp most time and sp and mp our both o3ds xl crashed many Times...
So one more every session/few hours.

Ok, thanks.

I got my N3DSXL last month and bought Terraria for it instantly(digital version). At first, it crashed here and there, mostly when I wanted to build a house.
Now, it has stopped crashing,(it hasn't crashed in 2 weeks) and I can enjoy the game once again!

Ok, thanks.

Don't jinx yourself.

Also, is Dev armor in the game? Or did they remove it already?

Nice to know that devs are on here reading all this but give no statement to the crashes. Only to stuff that no one cares about like vanity and crap xD
