3DS 3DS KNOWN ISSUES

Since launch, we have become aware of various issues in the Nintendo 3DS version of Terraria. We appreciate your patience as we attempt to reproduce and fix these issues, but in the meantime this post will call out progress and workarounds in an attempt to keep your experience as frustration-free as possible.

We are working towards getting a chunk of the worst offenders fixed so that we can put out an update. The patch submission process on console doesn’t lend itself to putting out a quickfire barrage of ‘hotfixes’ like on PC, so we want the first update to clear up as many of the worst offenders as possible before we release it. We cannot yet give a date for the update, but will announce it as soon as we have it.

Duke Fishron does not spawn
The Duke is in there, but he’s staying hidden at the moment. We’ve found and fixed the issue that was preventing him appearing, so please be assured this is coming and try to be patient. No combination of bait will get him to appear yet, so please don’t waste any more time trying.

Angler text appears only in English
Again, we’ve found the issue and fixed this and it’ll be in the update. If you need localised Angler text in the meantime, we can put a post together telling you what you need to know. Although if you can read this, you’re probably not having any issues anyway.

Duplicate NPCs
A few of you have reported this, and we’re still trying to track down the problem. If you have duplicate NPCs appearing we apologise. It doesn’t break anything besides looking a bit weird, so please bear with us on that one. If you’re feeling cruel, you can leave the dupes to the zombies.

That Pedguin crash on the debut livestream
Not going to lie to you, this was the absolute worst thing that could have happened. The good news is that we’ve isolated the issue. In the meantime, please DO NOT move anything that has a specialist inventory slot (coins, arrows, ammo) into the main inventory. If you want to safely stow it away, move it DIRECTLY from the specialist slots to a chest. That should work okay, but won’t hurt to do a save game before attempting this interaction.

Health hearts behaving weirdly
We’ve seen a few reports of this, and we’re working on it. The good news is the issues are purely cosmetic, and the underlying health stats are working. A save and reload often rights it, but we’re working on a proper fix.

The fishing rods all show 1% power
Similar to the above, this is a visual error only. The text is wrong, but the underlying stats are correct. This is fixed and waiting for the update.

Mana goes into negative numbers
As above, a glitch in the text only. Fixed and ready for the update.

The range on spears/tridents etc extends with every repeated use
Yep, this is really happening. Enjoy it while it lasts (or not...) because this is GONE in the first update. Apologies, and hope it’s not unbalancing your multiplayer games.

Enemies still spawn in NPC towns
We’re not seeing anything odd here yet, but we’re still looking. Fences and walls should stop enemies appearing, and if you’re seeing otherwise please let us know the details. And check there’s not a gap in the background that enemies could be exploiting...

Hard Mode enemies spawning in Mushroom Biome
I’ve heard Mushi Ladybug, Fungi Bulb and Anomura Fungus mentioned, but I’ve only seen these on the surface which is normal. Is anyone seeing these underground? Is anyone seeing anything else weird in Mushroom that shouldn’t be there? Please let us know, if so.

Crash resuming after the 3DS has been in sleep mode
We’ve not reproduced this one yet, still looking. If you see this let us know, any info could help us track it. So far only one report of this, but we take crashes very seriously.

Crash in multiplayer with 3 or 4 players after 15 mins
We don’t yet see this one either, but if you have it then please let us know the details so we can narrow down the search. So far only one report of this, but we take crashes very seriously.

Problems with in-game music
We’re aware of a few issues here, and are looking into them. If you camera peek with the C-stick into another Biome, that music will trigger. Biome recognition currently works off what the camera can see rather than where the player character is placed. We’re attempting to make this work better.

NOTE: This is not an exhaustive list, and we’ll update as we go. We have focused on what we perceive to be the biggest problems, and these are our focus for the time being. More minor glitches are further down the list, but we are looking into them.

EDIT 1: I'm monitoring this thread daily, but won't have the time to respond to everyone. I can't give an exact ETA on the patch, but we are aiming to have something out at the end of January. There's no way to shortcut that unfortunately: there is a fixed period of time that Nintendo need to test and approve the update, and there's the small matter of Christmas that shuts everything down for a week. As soon as I have a date I will update you, but it's likely that I'll only know a week from release.

Are you able to tell me: are reward fishing poles not in 3DS Terraria? I'm in hardmode with both the mechanic and the angler. I've completed 3 angler quests. On the waning crescent moon, both on the day before, the night of, and the day after, the mechanic does not have the Mechanic's Rod for sale.

Help?
 
So, I beat Plantera. Now, I'm having trouble killing the Golem, and this one is because for some reason, the Altar spawned in one of the corridors of the temple, and Golem's head spawns inside the unbreakable blocks and I can't hurt it at all. Anything I can do to fix this? None of my weapons seem to be able to hit the head through the blocks.

Maybe when they fix spears you can use the chlorophyte partisan's spore, I remember on PC having the same problem and that's how I beat golem.

to get a reward fishing pole (hotline, golden fishing pole) from the angler you have to have complete 25 or obove, quests in hardmode, I don't know much of the mechanics pole(never really tried to get it) but if you can't buy it then it's not added yet or a bug.
@GoldenTerrabyte with me his head was stuck on the last few blocks making the (derby face) after I died, whent back to make the area, his head wasn't stuck anymore because some blocks where in between the body and head, but wasn't able to be normal or the head combined with the body(in his first stage). Never really faced him much (need to go back and kill him some more to get the pick and trophy)

Wire activation sources have an activation range one block outside of their sprites, and the wire tool and wire cutter do damage. Also, as a suggestion, I would recommend having actuators appear in build mode. One last thing; after saving my game, (the game had completed saving), I closed my system, then shortly thereafter reopened it, and the game was saving again. Is that intended? Nice job on making it to 3ds!

Edit: If you use the C stick to look outside your camera FOV, you can see entities spawn. Also, I have gone through 12 worlds so far looking for mythril and have not found any, am I just unlucky?

Here's another one. It's very minor though. When my main character walks around the title screen with Molten Armor on, the flame trail doesn't appear, but it does while actually playing the game.

Also, not sure if these are bugs, but I'll be listing them anyways.

  1. The Lava Charm doesn't tell me how long I have left until I start burning from lava. That's quite annoying and has actually killed me a couple times.
  2. The game seems to be still active in Sleep Mode. When I put my 2DS to sleep with my headphones plugged in, I could still hear the background music.
Also, on the Home Menu Preview, the Day Theme snippet that plays is in Stereo (I know this because headphones :cool:), but in-game, none of the music is in Stereo. No matter what I do to my System Sound Settings, it's always in Mono. This might not bother most people, but it kinda bothers me. Ah well, I'll just have to get used to it. :p

Also, as a suggestion, I would recommend having actuators appear in build mode. One last thing; after saving my game, (the game had completed saving), I closed my system, then shortly thereafter reopened it, and the game was saving again. Is that intended? Nice job on making it to 3ds!

Edit: If you use the C stick to look outside your camera FOV, you can see entities spawn. Also, I have gone through 12 worlds so far looking for mythril and have not found any, am I just unlucky? Does the golem drop the sun stone? (am I just unlucky with that too with 20+ golem kills?)

I've noticed the same thing, that the game autosaves every time you close the console without pressing the HOME button first
 
I dont belive that it is a glich, its there so you dont lose memorie when you close it and your gone for awhile. (Running out of battery )
 
I completely forgot; all of the caster enemy projectiles (tim, imp, goblin sorcerer) drop goblin gore upon destruction.

personally I like em that way though. makes combat more skill demanding. gives you that feeling like "I'mma whoop yo grass caster!!"
 
One big (and I mean big) bug that I have not seen mentioned yet is how easily you can permenantly lose items on multiplayer mode with the 3ds. My boyfriend and I bought the game last week and made some pretty good progress within a few hours. We were playing local play with him hosting. At the end of the day, we both saved and quit. When we started back up the next day all my items that I had in my inventory (and I mean all my items including some really good armor and weapons) were gone. No where to be found, just gone. At first he said it was something I must have done, maybe I didn't save ect. We decided to try it again, put me in some low grade armor and and had things in my inventory that we wouldn't mind losing. Saved, logged off. Logged on. All done. Not one item on me. The only way around this bug is before we save, I have to take every single item I have on me and put it in a chest. And when I log back on I have to then take all said items again. Its a pain. I think what put us over the edge to the point where we have said we will not play the game again until these bugs are fixed it when the multi player session ended in the middle of a blood mood. Just some freakin error occured. We log back on and again, every single item I had on me was gone. Necro armor, ranger emblem, star cannon, repeater, and many many other items we had put hours of gameplay into to make. All gone.
Another thing we were also noticing is the difficulty of the destroyer. Yes, he is a challenging boss, we have played the PC version many times. But this is plain insanity. We were trying to beat this guy for 3 hours straight (before I lost all my good stuff), we followed online guides/videos, could not do it. We would barely do anything to him it seemed. I'm not sure if that would be considered a bug, but the control sceme does not match his insane difficulty.
I've emailed suppost before finding this forum to let them know what was going on. I cannot justify paying $40 for these games that we cannot play. And I refuse to put in that many hours to get good gear, only to lose said good gear because this game is buggy.

I definitely agree with you about The Destroyer. I remember EASILY killing him multiple times, first try, on the PS4. But here, he's so incredibly overpowered that I can't even get CLOSE to killing him, and I'm in full Titanium armour with potion buffs and an Unreal Minishark.
 
You know guys it takes awhile for them to give us the update for this game and why not they also add a little some of 1.3 items like the frozen campfire to make up for these glitches :)

Yeah everytime i put my 3ds to sleep mode it always saving the game and idk if thats a good thing ._.

I noticed we can't craft the watch/depth meter, and i havent seen the traveling merchant after roughly 100 hours of playtime. Not sure if this is intended or just not working atm. Also, I am unable to craft the naughty present for the frost moon event.

Wof spawns at the altitude of your sacrifice, accidently spawned him at a deep chasm of the underworld, making the fight awkward.
 
So where to begin, the bug where you lose all of (your equipment ) was all ready mentioned;). With the destroyer (and all mobs) might be the problem with the enemies hit box invincibility.example (a pet that can hit or slime can take d amadge away from you attacking same as another player) so might be use full if you take turns attacking. Like I say for the destroyer nimbus rod for the win. Heart statues are always usefull potions as well
