Short Story A Hunter and his Dog

Krasunir

Terrarian
There once was a hunter with his dog, and the hunter was an infamous archer famed for his skills in both archery and skinning.
But one day, he contracted an illness that caused him so slowly become paralysed. The dog was loyal and intelligent, so understanding his owner's condition, he set out to find a cure. He ventured across the land, scouring apothecaries and enchanters for any medicine that could help his owner.
Luckily, he could read, so when he finally found a note that contained the medicine required, he alerted the apothecary to help. Unfortunately, the apothecary didn't understand barks, so he was confused until the dog grabbed the ingredients and pointed to the mortar and pestle. Reluctantly, as it was the middle of the night, the apothecary mashed the ingredients and gave it to the dog, who held it carefully in his jaws. The dog, in return, cut a piece of rope with his claw and left a piece of raw meat for the apothecary to cook as payment.
Then sprinting back but being wary not to spill the mixture, the dog finally got home and gave it to his nearly-dead owner, who took it and was nurtured back to full health by the dog.
This story was told throughout the towns and cities, and became a legend.
Many years later, when the dog was on its last legs, the town the hunter and the dog had hailed from created a statue of the dog in his honour, and when the hunter died later in his life, he was buried alongside the dog's grave.

The end.

(Just a short story I wrote for a friend.)
