Pretty straight forward suggestion, but one I also thought to be pretty funny and fitting for Terraria. A bed that makes the night go by faster than other beds! (cause racecar = fast, idk lol)

Not really sure what a pixelized in-game version might look like, but crafting could be something with asphalt blocks. Or possibly even work in the enchanted sundial since it’s speeding up the night. This would also help to balance out the item, since the sundial is somewhat hard to get and skipping time is already a pretty OP convenience.

Since asphalt blocks are super easy to make, I feel something else of similar rarity to the sundial should be then added to the crafting recipe so the bed isn’t immediately craftable and making the sundial obsolete. Perhaps the moondial as well? This way you’d not only have to get 2 sundials, but also find shimmer

I’m not sure if the bed should have a cooldown like the sundial does. Not having a cooldown could be the benefit of upgrading the dial. Maybe the time skip function works three times per in-game week, instead of only one?

The crafting recipe could be 15 Asphalt blocks, 5 silk, sundial, and moondial

Going off this recipe it’s function could be to fast forward time by 12 or so hours like 3 or 4 times a week, and just function normally once it’s “charges” are depleted.

This item would also make fishing significantly easier, cooldown or not.

Agreed. Needing to make my base look a particular way in order to add functionality causes much conflict when I play games with a particular friend of mine. I want the base to look like a particular style I'm designing, and he wants the base to "behave" in a particular way. So giving one bed design superior abilities would be an endless source of conflict for us.
But the design itself, I have no problem at all.

A way to make nights go by more quickly could also be nice, I just don't think it should be specifically tied to the bed design.

Funny idea. Even thought I don't want any special bed that's better than any other bed and I've never wanted a race car bed, I now want a race car bed just to have a race car bed. Would it go best in the Mechanic's, Goblin Tinkerer's or Steampunker's house?
