Other Add a starting weapon selection to the character creation screen

  • I believe there should be a way to select your initial weapon during the creation of your character
  • Reason: When a player currently wants to play pure summoner, then the player has to recreate the world for RNG to give them the finch staff, wasting time creating said world and checking the chests
  • Weapon choices during character creation:
    • Copper Shortsword(default)
    • Wooden Sword
    • Wooden Yoyo
    • Wooden Boomerang
    • Spear
    • Wooden Bow+Arrows
    • Finch Staff
    • Wand of Sparking
    • None
      • represented by the icon of a hand
      • this would mean the character starts without weapon, but has the other gear a character starts with
    • No starting gear
      • represented by a cross or nothing
      • this would mean that the character starts with absolutely nothing in the inventory, and would have to go exploring for wood and bombs to get copper

I also find it weird that the Pearlwood equipment is just the same as any wooden equipment when you need to wait until hardmode to get that type of wood ( without leaving to the world with an hardmode character to plant hallow in pre-hardmode)

Otherwise make it so we can pick the type of wood equipment we want if they all have the same stats anyway.
 
@MarinoKadame Various wood types all have a slight difference in stats. With generic wood being the weakest, others (like palm, mahogany and boreal) slightly better, evil (ebonwood and shadewood) being even better, and pearlwood the best among wooden eqipments. - of course, with pearlwood being hardmode only, no one really will use it for weapons and armor though XD

The idea of being able to choose starter weapon sounds interesting, but it only really goes for mage and summoner, it otherwise takes like 1 minute to chop a tree, craft a workbench, and make a wooden sword or bow.
Mages still can get gem staffs with some mining, usually relatively early (with luck and some effort), but all early game summoner weapons depend on chance, which is not that good... well... some of them would be very overpowered early game, but other summors aren't that much...

I do find the "no starting gear" option pretty interesting too though. That would make early game really challanging actually, huh? If you have no axe, you couldn't get wood either. you couldn't mine without a pickaxe. and couldn't fight without a weapon. You would be completely relying on what you find there. Which could be unique and easy if you stumble upon a chest or two nearby with some weapons and explosives, or very nightmare-ish, if you can't find anything, and you can't even fight slimes, and then the first night falls... yeah, that sounds like a challange XD sounds interesting (well, could try it though easily with just simply trashing all the starter gear. sounds like an interesting challange)

dunno, but you would need an axe to chop some cacti. or explosives, which, again, depends on if you find some in a chest - or pot, but you do need something to break pots with
 
I could almost see this as a seed option where a chest is added near spawn with that item.
