Other Add Ability to Play Older Versions Officially.

Terrarian
This would be a cool feature that would make it easier for the common Terraria user to play old versions without having to use third party software.

This isn't the focus of the devs though. The goal is to expand the game and make it better as it progresses, I don't see a reason to delegate resources to effectively downgrade the game.

That being said, I also don't see what this would hurt. So if it was a side project following the "final update" I woukd absolutely get behind this. I just don't want it to take priority over anything in an actual update.

I feel like something like TModLoader could exist where it isn't really the devs making it but just another free DLC for the game made by contributers,

exactly, but make it official and easier to use and on steam.

checking out legacy versions definitely sounds cool, as someone who started playing in 1.4. minecraft already offers this feature, and it's a shame more games don't do this.

why would this downgrade the game? you're not being forced back into an older version.

Minecraft is owned by Microsoft, a ginormous corporation with practically unlimited resources and influence to do whatever they want.

It would be nice for people to offer examples of games closer to the reality of Terraria/Re-Logic when citing examples of what can be done.

Minecraft was offering legacy versions even before they were bought by Microsoft.
